dougwintz Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Hi. Here's the Moebius '61 Pontiac Ventura. Love the wheels on this thing. I broke the windshield trying to get it to fit, but Moebius customer service was great. They sent me a new one quickly.
Geno Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Stunning build Doug, The '61 Pontiacs are beautiful automobiles. You rocked it man.
fordf-100 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Great looking Pontiac! Any other issues with the build? Was the window too tight of a fit? I'm asking because I want to start mine soon!
OldTrucker Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 One of the classiest Poncho's built and you did an excellent job on it! My grandpa's brother-in-law had a 61 Pontiac when I was a kid! When he retired it next to his garage a couple years before he died (in 1968) because the doctor no longer would let him drive. I tried everything in the book to convince him to sell it to me! No dice, it was the first and only car he ever bought new and would not let it go. It was still there when grandpa's sister (his wife) passed away in 1989 and was left there when the kids sold the farm.
MrObsessive Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 That's a real beauty Doug! Perfect color choice as that suits the car! 52 minutes ago, fordf-100 said: Great looking Pontiac! I'm asking because I want to start mine soon! Hi. As a matter of fact there were issues, both of which are reported elsewhere. First, the windows are over sized. Once I started thinking about it, I carefully sanded the top ha;f of the windshield being careful to leave enough of a guide for the bare metal foil trim. Then I sanded the top of the window opening on the body. I did that gradually until I felt the fit was "good enough" - not 100% flush but acceptable. I'm happy with the result. I screwed up by trying to bend the window and it snapped in half. That's when i reached out to Moebius to get another couple of windshield replacements and they were very good about that. It really helped that they were responsive. The next issue was the bumper fit. I solved that buy getting rid of the plastic piece that fits between the radiator and the bumper. Solved that. I found these issues reported elsewhere - on this board to. But, the solutions were there - just took some additional work.
bbowser Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 I never tire of seeing the big Ponchos. Great work!
