How about a light hearted discussion that has no real right/wrong answer,   so, lets say you start a build at the end of the year and then finish it the following the year, which does that completed build count towards?,  the year in which you started it?, or its when you finish it that matters?

I am not sure where I stand on this one, but this close to the 2019, I wont start one now

Year finished, no question.

This year I finished models I started in the late '60s, mid '80s, early '90s, and the 2000s. They all count toward my 2018 score.

The year I finish it is what counts but if the build has been on my bench for say 20+ years I will not disclose of the fact.

In 2012 I finished 10 models but most of them had been on my bench for anything from 1-7/8 years.
If I finish all my started projects in 2019 I will have a record year, I could easily finish 20 models at least:D

I go with the year finished.  I keep a spreadsheet that calculates elapsed time from start to finish, average completion time for me is anywhere from 3-6 months.  I've got three going right now, one of which might squeeze in before midnight Monday!

I usually call it in the year it was finished. Although I have a lot of builds that were started over 30 years ago that aren't done that may have an age that comes with the end date... This was born at 30 years old and finished at ,,,,,,,!! LOL

Year finished although I will make an exception such as just finishing a model yesterday, it will be counted as a 2018 build.
