Paul Hettick Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Pretty much outta the box. Added the side moldings, improved tires.
Dave Darby Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Looking good, Paul. I'm eying doing one of those up as a stepside.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Excellent! I would be more interested in one of these kits if it were a long box. I've never understood the attraction to the short box look. To my eye, it makes a truck look stubby and a little dumpy. An 8 foot box helps to make the truck look a little more sleek and low. Steve 1

Steve In terms of this body style I completely agree with you. The box seems to end abruptly with a sharp cut. However I'll take a shorty from every other generation chevy/gmc!
peekay Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Beautifully built and the side trim is just perfect.

Phildaupho Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) WOW - you do beautiful work. This was the first automotive model I built by myself in the very early sixties. I didn't paint it and I think I used every part in the box. At the time I did not know how good a model could be when built by a skilled modeller. This will likely be moved soon to the truck tread which I sometimes regret not looking at often so I am glad you initially posted Model Cars Under Glass. Edited January 17, 2019 by Phildaupho
RichCostello Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Hey Paul, the truck looks great. I was wondering how you did the wheels. Did you cut the centers out and put them on steel wheels, or just paint the outer part of the wheels?
mike 51 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) I vividly remember you throwing it across the room when you found out which issue it was .... I guess you changed your mind about it eh? Came out great! Edited January 17, 2019 by mike 51
Paul Hettick Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Thanks all, and yes Mike, the AMT box art showed a long bed with a side molding. What was in the box was a strippo short bed. I was slightly disappointed lol. Yes I prefer the long box trucks as well.
espo Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 The added chrome side moldings and the two tone paint look great. I picked up one of these last week and I'm still going over ideas in my head. Did you stay with the 6 cylinder ?
Bainford Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Very tidy! The colours work well and the trim work is very clean. Very nicely done.
Belugawrx Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I really like the two tone paint Nicely done
