MrObsessive Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I came across this story which is interesting as you never know what someone may truly have until after they're gone. If you happen to be in France, you might want to check this out as I see some real potential gems there.
Renegade Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Would love to have that gold Lincoln but France is a little too far to go.
Motor City Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Bill, What a bizarre coincidence. I just logged off of the Cadillac LaSalle website (I own '68 & '77 Eldorados). The last post I read was a link to this auction. The guy had 3 '67 Eldorados, and one's body tag indicated it was built without seat belts (the cars are in France). What a waste of cars!
espo Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 The headline reads that they are worth a fortune and that maybe true once restored. The problem is it would cost two fortunes to make these cars worth one fortune. Still interesting to see.
Tom Geiger Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Ironic when you consider that Matchbox made more Miuras than Lamborghini!
ChrisBcritter Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) Auction link (in French) if you want all the lot listings: https://www.interencheres.com/vehicules/vente-de-voitures-de-collection-243124/ Oh, those poor Continental Mark IIs - I sent the info to the Mark II Registry; they were last known as being in the USA in 1984 and 1989. What really gets me is that the banger racers will be crossing the channel (or coming in from Holland) to pick up many of the Yank tanks that don't otherwise have a following in Europe. Oh, and one other thing: "...and includes a 1961 Lincoln Continental Mark III convertible" ...which is correctly listed on the auction page as a '58. Way to go, Fox! ChrisBcritter Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 And speaking of the '58, check out this detail: Export model speedometer marked in both KM and miles per hour.

Oldcarfan27 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Looks like all he did was buy old cars and just hoard them. None of them appear to have ever been worked on. Most are probably in worse condition now than before he acquired them. What a waste.
iamsuperdan Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I am a firm believer in the adage of "don't crush 'em, restore 'em." But wow. Some of those are so far gone, I think it's better to salvage what can be salvaged and scrap the rest. That Porsche 356 just makes me sad.
The Creative Explorer Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Can I say that I loooooooooooooooooooooooooove this van?
Spex84 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 (edited) Amazing...too bad some of those cars are so wasted, but better than having been crushed 30+ years ago! What is that yellow/black car? It looks a lot like a Comete, but not quite. I'd love to build one in 1/25, maybe make a hot rod out of it *EDIT* checked the listings and it's a Simca. Of course! Edited January 20, 2019 by Spex84
slusher Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Some of those cars are in really bad shape...
ChrisBcritter Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 The page is gone from the auction site but here's a saved copy of the main list, at least: https://web.archive.org/web/20190119193511/https://www.interencheres.com/vehicules/vente-de-voitures-de-collection-243124/
