jjsipes Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Finally got this completed. Scale Finishes Calypso Coral Enamel. No clear. White and Black interior. Basically box stock.
tbill Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Great looking build. That hood decal is a son of a gun ain’t it?
vamach1 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Looking very nice. You would have thought I would have built one by now. I will eventually get at least one of almost every early (65-73) stock Mustang built. It's too late for the 50th and 55th but maybe by the 60th anniverary. I did manage to pull together 50 built kits for the 50th by including all scales from 1/16 to 1/43 and displayed them at the NJ NNL in 2014.
madhorseman Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Well Done! Not built a Revell Boss myself, but I see what tbill is referring to.
TooOld Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Beautiful color and a very nice looking Boss !

The worst part of that decal, is it is two parts, a left and a right , and they must overlap, not to mention trying to get them to conform to the hood shape . I had a heck of a time with mine, and never got it to conform perfectly.

Not sure if it's just me, but that rear quarter window post bothers me. On the '69 Shelbys I've built, I have removed them and foiled the "glass".

jjsipes Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 I did cut the front glass from the rear so that I didn't have the "runnners" running front to back. Thanks for the comments. Not to bad for a Mopar Man I guess

I had the same problem , that ‘nose’ just has too many curves/corners I think for the decal, cause I soaked the daylights out of mine and got the same results as you did. PS my original post wasn’t knocking the job you did, just trying to let you know I knew how tough that decal set is to apply to that hood having done it recently myself.
gman Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Great paint, great color. You have done a very nice job on this one.
Classicgas Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Very nice. Two minor suggestions, paint the battery caps and the radiator cap.
kelson Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Great looking build!!, i'm planning on the same color for the 69 boss 302 kit.
espo Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Great looking paint work. I had a co-worker years ago who pick up one of these when they were just 12 or 13 year old used cars. It took him over a month to blow up the engine. Turns out he wasn't the street racer he thought he was. He patched it up and sold it. So if someone in Sacrament remembers a Calypso Coral Boss 302 that never seemed to run right you might have had an unbalanced cast crank.

Ron Hamilton Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Sweet build. I have one of those in the stash unbuilt. I also have an original annual AMT 70 Mustang, Which is a restorable glue-bomb, which I may cut up, and combine with a Revell 69 Mach 1. I haven't had it in my hands for at least 10 years.
rastta Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 NIce job! Just ordered this model - can't wait to build it.
djflyer Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Definitely great paint work - love that color combination. I've had thoughts of building a convert in that scheme. (It will have to be the sportsroof body though as i haven't seen a kit of a '70 drop-top.) Nice build of a kit with somewhat goofy breakdown - who thought of separating the floor pan and 'frame' that way??? I know people comment on the windows but that front-end still bugs me. Maybe if someone does a 3D print conversion for the Revell '69 kit, we can get a correction for the 24th scale out of it.
