Went a little crazy at the Auto World website.

I got 3 new AWs last night.  The 76 Buick Estate Wagon, gold 67 Eldo, blue 63 Dodge.   I forget to post those here.

They had a 66 Impala in black, but I don't want a black one - i like yours.  Is that the 65 or 66?  I have a red 65.  I have uncles that had 65 and 66s back in the day.  The 65 was an SS car and he parked it at edge of woods and it rusted into a heap.  Dang it.

Good haul you got.

It's a 66 Super Sport. It has big-block fender flags, but I haven't looked at it under a magnifying glass to see if it is a 396 or 427. Kid I knew growing up had one like it for a family car, 327/275 and a PowerSlide though. It was sold to some cousin or something, but they bought it back around 1975 when Greg started driving. It was the same color as my diecast.

I have four of the Hobby Lobby 1/64 semi-truck cases on my desk at work with 12 1/64 cars parked sideways in each one. ?

I'll have to get a 66 someday.  I built plastic kits of each uncle's car as I remember them and gave them to them.   So I collect those in a smaller scale although I did get a Welly 65 Impala in 1/24 (1/27?) last year.  It's small for 1/24.

Cool display idea. I have 8 loose 1/64s on my PC and the HW Advan hauler with the wagon in front of my monitor.  Under stand for other monitor are 8 more and the BRE Datsun Hauler set.   one shelf on bookshelf behind me has a dozen or so 1/64s, 1/24 First Gear 69 Camaro conv, Franklin 42 Chrysler, Welly 79 Ford truck, Motormax 74 Vega, First gear Studebaker Speedway truck.   Oh and another shelf with more stuff.     And that's just the work stuff.  Oh yeah, 3 M2s under my LEG lamp from Christmas Story on my desk too.  LOL.  Mostly repeats and lesser value/interest things at work so as not to be too interesting to folks passing by.  I would send pics but the dust is too embarrassing to post.

Corgi 1/24 Porsche 1990 (964) Cabriolet

I did not know that CORGI ever made 1/24 diecasts before I found this Porsche.   It is the only 911 cabriolet I can think of not counting the Maisto 911 Speedster.   It is quite accurate but the yellow tinted windshield, back window, and headlamps are a let down and will need to be replaced.  According to the box it is also available as a Targa version.

Like you, Gary..... I did not realise that Corgi ever made 1:24 scale diecast model cars, and I find that a lot of Corgi and Dinky models are not actually 1:43 scale, but some weird size ( especially the lorries / trucks ).... probably 1:50

Most Corgi's were 1:36th scale

Thanks Gary..... you are quite right, many newer Corgi diecasts are 1:36 scale, while most older ones are 1:43 scale and the commercial vehicles tend to be 1:50 scale, including Vanguards. This is why I usually go for Oxford Diecast, Neo, IXO, Minichamps and Lansdowne...... all in 1:43

Old Dinkys were generally scaled a bit bigger than Corgis of the same era but there were discrepancies within the brands too. The red Mercedes is a Dinky, the blue a Corgi. (I've chosen extreme examples to illustrate the point.)

And Dinkys were generally a bit smaller than 1.43 scale. Here I've placed a Dinky Herald behind a modern-day Vanguards model, which is true 1.43, or very close to it.

I just received this new IXO Opel Kapitän and, although it's a great looking model for the price, it's way too big. It should be the same length as the true 1.43 Vanguards Vauxhall above it.

Interesting information, Peter...... and I like the look of that 1:43 Vanguards Vauxhall Cresta........ hoping to find a Cresta to add to my collection.

Johnny Lightning 50th anniversary six car set, release 1. I'm leaving it sealed for now.

I have the recent box set with the green Buick wagon.  Not sure what to do with it, so I leave it all in the box.  Too nice to get rid of box and all.   Would love to see your cars though.  I think the "extras" included with mine were in my box so it wasn't sealed.

Went and looked - nice cars in that set.

Today's Corvette has an interesting story.  For the last race of the 2007 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Laguna Seca the Corvette team had to substitute a backup car and decided to put new "Jake the Skull" graphics on both cars, #3 and #4, for the last race and the #4 car won the race.  This model is a BBurago C6R and pretty accurately depicts the winner.  A curious note on eBay is that many of the listings for this model label it as a 2005 which is not correct.

I'm a fan of the steel wheels on the older one as well.  Since they are 1:24 it'll be easy to swap out the fancy factory wheels on the new wagon.  For anyone interested the tan III is by Hatchett, no opening features but I kind of like this rather than over scale door lines. The green one, not sure of the manufacturer but nicely done, door openings are fairly tight, they don't jump out at you.  Both off of eBay, I was looking for one of the new kit releases and found them.

Picked up two nice Vanguards 1:43 scale model cars...... one is a 1960 Vauxhall Cresta PA in two-tone green, and the second one is a 1965 Triumph Spitfire MK II in black. The Cresta is a body design that I have always liked, and it does have a great deal of American influence in it's lines. The Spitfire has a nice detachable soft top and also comes with a tonneau cover.

I wish that Spitfire were available in 1/24.

X2 - the Spitfire was very popular here in the colonies and a 1/24 diecast would be very much appreciated.

It is rather surprising that they don't do a Spitfire in 1:24, neither diecast nor in kit form.

Airfix do a load of spits in 1/24, and a few others. I haveone of the spits and it looks pretty nice
