Kruzn Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Old build. Not sure which kit, Monogram maybe? Built box stock. Whitewalls are yellowed from age, but paint has held up well. Edited February 21, 2019 by Kruzn
Classicgas Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Yep Monograms kit. Nice. Just pop out the white walls and paint them.
stevez Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I say leave whitewalls, that's the way the would realistically yellow in 1:1 scale over time.
espo Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Great looking big rig of a car. I agree with stevez on the white wall tires. The yellowing was a common problem in that era. You could not replicate that finish if you were trying to. You got it the same way they did back in the day, that's just the way they aged.
bbowser Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Beautiful! I have this one in the stash, hope it comes out as nice.

dimaxion Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 It is a Monogram Kit . The Yellowing is from the color of the plastic . IIRC , Monogram create this formula to best reproduce the de-rigor '30's Whitewalls . It looks like the Whitewalls of the day . Green is my favorite Color . It's a Duesy .. I like this .. Nice and beautiful replica . With the Grille Gaps I believe this is a first run release . Thanx ..
donb Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Sharp car. Working the same right now. Hope it looks this good!
cdgamble Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Its a real beauty, I would leave the whitewalls
ismaelg Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Classic beauty! I always thought about a blind intersection. By the time the driver can take a look if there is oncoming traffic, half the car is already blocking the road
geetee66 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 A fine build of a real classic. I agree with some of the previous comments. Leave the white walls alone. They look good like that.
Kruzn Posted February 26, 2019 Author Posted February 26, 2019 Thanks for all the comments! I remember way back when I was building this that I was impressed with the snap-in plastic whitewalls thinking they would not yellow. Guess I was wrong. However, as many have mentioned, they actually look correct now particularly for the subject time period. They will stay as-is.
