I have a lot of interests... car magazine collecting, diecast collecting (I have an extensive collection of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Siku, Johnny Lightning, Corgi, Greenlight, Dinky, etc), music (collecting CDs, going to concerts), movies, home theater, computers (since software engineering is my profession, it spills over into my free time), travel (reading about places to go, then going), dining out (not much of a cook, but I love to eat), and driving my 1:1 cars.

Well unfortunately my #1 hobby is dreaming about the time for any hobbies. :(

I have a lot related to models since for the most part it is an easy hobby to squeeze into what little free time I get. I've learned to do resin casting (well still learning but I can turn out decent looking parts), I'm learning to do photo etch and I just got an ALPS printer to do decals. I once thought about starting an aftermarket buisness but quickly figured out that is like real work. :P Maybe someday but for now I'm learning and it is nice to have the skills and tools for use on my own projects. For those of you that have never tried resin casting, thank a caster for the stuff they provide us, it is way more work than the money they get for it. Besides cars I build a little bit of everything, ships, tanks, aircraft, sci-fi, real space / science (someday I'll finish the visible man & woman I started for my son 3 years ago  ).

I also have an old truck I tinker with, but lately its not much fun all maintenance stuff, little improvement or restoration.

During the winter I go skiing with my sons school. It's a pretty good deal, we pay for the kids and the parents ski free helping the kids. The parent to kid ratio is usually pretty good so we take turns and get to ski on our own once in awhile too.

I spend a little time on the PS2 or PC now and then but it is a serious drain on my free time so I try not to spend too much time glued to a screen, I'd prefer to b gluing my fingers together.

I started a website for emergency vehicles which I guess is a hobby, but its been awhile since I got any updates done.

http://www.geocities.com/cnf_e32/index.htm

I read a lot, mostly history (of everything) but some fiction too.

I do play with my camera a lot, mostly pics from work, fires, rescues, aircraft and emergency vehicles. Also some scenery & wildlife since they are right outside my door. I play as an amatuer fire history buff, I've even written a couple of small articles for my local SPAAMFAA* chapter's newletter. Someday I hope to restore an old fire engine but those take a lot of time and if 1/25 models are hard to find display space for you can imagine the problems with a 1-1. I'm even considering starting a museum of wildland firefighting but that is really out there, more an excuse to restore several old fire engines.

Also a bunch of other stuff I'd like to do but don't get the time to do, I have tropical fish, used to go shooting, did some archery, I have a wood shop but its been a couple years since I used it. Someday I'll be retired and then I'll probably still be busy.

Besides models, I'm big time into vintage Hot Wheels! Particularly those made between 1968-70. Hot Wheels were probably the main reason I didn't like models as a kid because why fool with putting them together, when you can get a nice shiny car in a blister pack you could play with? :P

Here's just a small sample of my collection................

Most amazing thing about hot wheels to me is they were about a buck when I bought them as a kid in the sixties and they are still about a buck to buy them today!

Nice collection

Besides model cars, I'm into PC games and some game systems, 2D and 3D graphics, used to collect Hot Wheels and Transformers (but I don't have the space anymore), and listening to music.  I have a pretty extensive metal collection.  :)

My interests are:

drag racing. These days it's "nostalgia" ( I HATE that term) racing, home track is Famosa California! I don't follow the NHRA big show at all anymore.

Photography. My trusty Canon  is busted! I love taking pics.

Car shows. I like restored cars as much as hot cars. Love 20's through 60's cars. No use for trucks, NASCAR, low riders or rat rods though I certainly don't have anything against those who like 'em.

History. History of ANYTHING, I'll read it. Spent the last eight years or so studying the war in the Pacific, prewar politics, postwar politics and Imperial Japan.

Machines of every kind. I absolutly love anything that flies, floats or rolls.

Animals. Our sentient brothers and sisters here on planet earth. I hope we someday, take a more intelligent kinder view of our fellow creatures.

The world is very interesting place!

I am a stamp collector.  I collect a rather narrow time frame of postal history,  United States 1903-08  1 cent Benjamin Franklin stamp. This was an interesting period, how they moved the mails in railroad mail sorting cars, early automation of vending equipment and stamp affixing machinery.  I have some one of a kind things that are just cool to have and hold in your hands. I have a lot more invested in stamps than model cars.

Vintage computers. Here's my (little beat up) Tandy 200. Runs MS-BASIC, I've made a few simple games for it, along with a RWC that I can use to turn the lights on and off with.

Air rifles, stereo gear, old game systems (have an Atari 2600, Intellivision, Sega Genesis, NES, N64,) new game systems (PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox and X360,) general interesting antiques, Lesney Matchbox cars and trucks, and of course real automobiles and anything with a motor.

Very Cool Miles!  This stuff is coming of age as collectibles.  Recently a computer recycling service took in one of the original computers that Bill Gates hand assembled. It sold for a lotta money!   I had a friend who was collecting the hand held games from the 1970s-80s... he'd find them at garage sales for a dollar. If they didn't work he'd open them up and find one little point that needed soldering and it would work.

Long ago in my single/pre-parent days, I used to build guns almost like I'd build model cars or airplanes. Built several 1911 .45s out of parts, a couple AR-15s, a Walther P.38, and even an M1 carbine. Can't afford all that anymore. :(

For some time I've been collecting replicas and toys of Walther P.38s, Colt 1911s, and Colt and S&W revolvers. Prolly have two or three dozen of all types by now, but only have pics of the P.38s. One of the P.38s in this pic is real; the rest are replicas of one sort or another.

Used to be an outfit out of Japan called LS that did some very nice--and very expensive--1:1 scale plastic models of guns. I have their P.38 (not included in the above photo) and their S&W .44 Magnum. Here's the P.38, assembled, and an unopened box with another one in it.

Snipe hunting and submarine racing.

Snipe hunting and submarine racing.

Attended lots of submarine races in my youth. Not so much now. Really got in the way of most other optional activities though. ;)

Never was much of a snipe hunter after the first time.B)
