My Hobby Lobby is about 30 miles away from me. I hardly go there, as my local hardware store, which specializes in RC, trains, and model kits, and also carries a full Tamiya line, is 2 miles away. If he doesn’t have it on the shelf, he can special order it for you.

My closest one currently is about 2 hours north or 2 hours south and my only local place is in the mall so it's way over priced...

Yeah I've heard a hobby lobby is coming to Chico about 40 min drive. Going in where Toys r us was. Last time I was in Chico they are in process of remodeling. Before that the closest one was about 1.5 hours.

I could walk to my local Hobby Lobby. But after a month or so you don't want to!

Your HL is the one north of me, Exton PA

I'm  surrounded by them. Closest is in York, PA, about 20 minutes,  next is either in Hanover or in Lancaster, about 30 to 40 minutes,  then there's one in Harrisburg, PA, about 45 minutes. Yea, I got them covered, lol.

Hah......I have to travel to another country to get to my Hobby Lobby....

Ya we do, plus the 25% more exchange.

I have one within 15 minutes of me, two more within 30-40 minutes.

They're good for Testor Paints, and they carry about half of the Round 2 and Revell car lines. Not a whole lot if you're an airplane or armor or ship guy. The 40% off coupon is useful if they have something you want/need. They have some tools and supplies (including now Molotow), but they don't come close to replacing a good full-service local hobby shop. Unfortunately, those are disappearing, and HL is better than no hobby shop at all.

According to our friend GOOGLE, there are 16 Hobby Lobby stores within 90 miles of my house!

There certainly are not that many actual hobby shops in that much area.

Other than buying online, it seems that HL is one of our few choices.

I will stop in there when I drive by, usually on my way home from Walmart.  I take a quick look for anything new or on sale. I also check out the length of the line since they'll usually only have one register open.

IF I see something I want  I will always use my 40% off coupon.  If the line is long,  I make sure everyone on that line knows about the coupon!  That's their penalty for my waiting!

IF I don't see anything I want and there isn't a line, I'll buy a supply item.  Another can of Dullcote, flat black or another one my Testors staples. If I have enough of that in my home stock, I can get a pack of stamp album pages from the next aisle.  And of course with the 40% off coupon.

Start saving (or taking out a loan) now.  ? When HL opens a new store, they move FAST.  My closest Hobby Lobby took over an old K-Mart. After the announcement in the local news that they had signed the lease, they had the place refurbished in Corporate Hobby Lobby style and open in just a few weeks.

I wish their kit selection was as uniform as their décor.  Not true, as this thread shows.  That gets a little frustrating, reading about the new kits in other HL's around the country that never seem to show up in the stores near me.  And there are 3 HL's within a fairly short drive.  I got so tired of waiting for the Revell Porsche Tractor, I ordered it online.  Naturally, about a week later, the closest HL got that kit in.

I will probably have to take out another mortgage but I do hope they open fast....
