SCRWDRVR Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 I have a 69 Charger that came with a red, white and black tail stripe and I wanted to use the red but I think the black may go better with the color I chose. What do you all think
KWT Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Personal preference... I'd go with the black one.
Snake45 Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Red if you have a red interior. Otherwise, black.
SCRWDRVR Posted September 22, 2019 Author Posted September 22, 2019 I haven’t painted the interior yet and I was figuring on matching it with the stripe. I’m starting to think the black would look best. I’m just going to have to get another kit so I can do one with the red stripe lol....

Classicgas Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) From what I have read online 1 car left the factory in F8 green with a red stripe.. Having said that, Red and green are actually contrasting colors, when you mix paint green cancels red and vice versa. I don't think a red stripe would compliment that color at all. I think your eyes may be deceiving you Lee. The car is actually a gold or light bronze color I believe.. The lighting gives it a bit of a green hue, but if you look more at the hood than the body, it appears to be light bronze to me. In my opinion, it would look best in black or even white. Red will work if you want it to look custom, but if you're leaning towards a stock look, black or white would be best Steve

I think I’m going to go with the black and pick up another one to do a different color with the red stripe. Maybe white with the red stripe for the next one ?
JollySipper Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 The color you've painted this one looks more silver-gray maybe? Red stripe and interior would compliment it well..... This car is both silver and gray and the red is a good accent for it.
Modlbldr Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 What is the actual color you painted the car called? Looks to me like the color shifting paint. It is difficult for us viewing it through a picture to make an accurate assessment because it obviously is not the same to everybody. If we knew what the actual color was we could make a better call. Either way, I like the color. Later-

The closest color to that available on the '69 Dodges would be "Light Bronze Poly" or "Gold Poly". Yours might be closer to gold than bronze, but either way, a red stripe was probably not an option on these colors. I don't know that for a fact, but if you're thinking more along the "stock" line, black would have likely been the most common stripe color for this combo. Steve Light Bronze Gold
Bucky Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 This looks very close: This car has a black interior.
RichCostello Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) I thought that Brian's Charger was painted silver, and I think a silver car with red interior and stripe would look good. If the color is gold/bronze it needs to be black. Edited September 22, 2019 by RichCostello
Richard Bartrop Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 (edited) It depends on the red and the green. If they are the same intensity, they find for dominance, This is just the way the eye is wired up. However, a dark green can make a bright red pop. Edited September 23, 2019 by Richard Bartrop
gtx6970 Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I know someone with an A4 silver 1969 Charger with red interior and it looks amazing ( red tail stripe) I can also know of an A4 silver 1969 Charger 500 that has blue interior ( black tail stripe ) IMO black interior on a silver car is boring ,,but then again, I'm not a huge advocate for black interior cars anyway That said, I restored a clients car a few years back that was silver , blk vinyl top , tail stripe and interior
SCRWDRVR Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 The actual color is called Mocha Frost Metallic and it’s a factory Ford color, and think everyone is right the black will look best but I’m liking the idea of silver with red I think that’s how the second one will be.
SCRWDRVR Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 Which is like this but is a little lighter in person
JollySipper Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 That color wouldn't look bad at all with the red tail stripe, and maybe some redline tires....... I wouldn't put a red interior in it, though. That might be a bit much......
SCRWDRVR Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 Maybe a red stripe with a tan or buckskin color interior might not look bad.....
gtx6970 Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Any Tail stripe colors were avail on any exterior color. Some might not be 'recommended ' but chrysler would build pretty much any way you wamted it. I know of a 1970 challenger thats sand pebble beige exterior. Red painted roof and red interior.

Yeah that's just it I don't want it to look crappy so all combo's are a possibility.

I was just mentioning that red stripe came from the factory on a dark green car as I thought his might have been that dark green.? That color wouldn't be the best with a red stripe. I like the white on it tho. Edited September 24, 2019 by Classicgas
