SfanGoch Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Don't listen to something. This isn't a photoshopped image. That's a ship engine.
Exotics_Builder Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I'd like to see him turn the crank with a ratchet wrench ??

The way it is just sitting on the ground supported by few jacks is one oddity. There are also other things that just don't look like a ship's engine, but a smaller engine scaled up to look large. Buit I could be wrong . . .
Snake45 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Jay Leno is scheming to swap it into something even as we speak. A '30s Rolls Royce perhaps?
DukeE Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Appears to be a MAN marine V12 in first pic, upside down, Real photo. Here's similar MAN, V16, top side up, with mad photochop skilz LOL. Below is a V18 Wartsila diesel at factory with university tour from https://dieselgasturbine.com/students-get-close-engine/ Sitting on wood, fully assembled. https://cdn.wartsila.com/docs/default-source/product-files/engines/df-engine/brochure-o-e-w50df.pdf?sfvrsn=cb3cec45_8 Tri fuel version that only goes to a V16.

Looking at the inspection ports, it almost has to be.
DukeE Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I like the brochure, the v16 has 20,919 hp at 514 RPM. No TQ figs, but irrelevant in this app. 1307hp per cylinder. LOL.
TarheelRick Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Now that would look cool in a rat rod. Reminds me of the behemoth diesel engines that were our electrical power generators on Shemya AFB, AK.

DukeE Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 You guys realize the understeer would be awful, right? V12 weighs around 385000#, the V16 about 441000#? That's 192 tons and 220 tons respectively. Ain't no alloy block, weight doesn't really matter

Xingu Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 How much weight can a set of Cragar S/S mags hold?
tbill Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 .........it’ll pass anything........, but a gas station......
landman Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 And here's a U-joint for it. It should be able to handle the torque.
