What a great work area and collection !!

Thank you, been trying to talk my wife into letting me take over a bedroom but so far I’m stuck in the basement lol...

Sold off about 50 Kits at the NNL Southern Nationals event last week, sold a couple hundred kits off two years ago. I still have more than I can build in a life time, but I’m gonna give it a good try!
I have a spare bedroom that doubles as my office. The closet is full, I have a shelf in the office that I display a lot of older stuff, and I have the overflow in my clothes closet, and about 80 kits still boxed up from the sale last week. My wife is very understanding, God Bless her!

It’s funny... this thread reminds me of being a teenager and looking at a friend’s record collection.

A lot of stuff you have (like everyone had the Frampton Comes Alive album), some stuff you don’t want and some that you want!

My stash is miniscule compared to some, but this is enough to keep me busy the next 3 years or so.

Don't feel bad as I wish I could get my stash down to 'bout 50 kits. Sighhh.

There is only a small part of my stash that's really relevant to me, and that's my vintage stuff.

The rest of the several hundred kits that I have, I view as largely a collection of donors waiting to give their lives for the sake of the vintage kits! :)

A good portion of the vintage kits aren't even in original boxes, which is fine with me.

I don't build boxes. ;)

I've got a few in my hobby room, most of the shelves are double depth of kits, some triple depth.   These are mostly newer kits bought in the last 11 1/2 years, my older kits through 2008 are offsite, some in my other house, some in my storage units.   Need to get everything in one house--plan on remodeling my basement into a bigger hobby room.

Some of you guys don't have a stash you have a hobby shop !

Which may not be hard these days.... I went to a hobby shop in Aberdeen, NJ yesterday to get some Tamiya paints.  They might have had two dozen kits total on their shelves.  They carry all the paints for RC cars.

I have 250+ kits mostly sealed. Plus ships and planes. Organized by brand  mostly Revell Monogram and then AMT ERTL and then MPC / Lindberg on this old wooden shelf. Overflow of diecast and H.O slot cars....trying to get organized.

Having seen so many collections, here's some food for thought: What percentage of your stash is multiples of the same kit?

For me it would be about 10% at the most.

Even less, probably <5%.

Pretty amazed at the tons of dupes.

If I have more than one, it's probably a donor for a resin body, or an old kit/builder that needed a home.  Biggest number of single kit is 3, the 57 Bird, 57 Fairlane original issue, and Exner Revivals in color flips.

I would guesstimate 20%.  For a while, if I were buying a kit that I knew was going to be discontinued, I would buy two.  My reasoning was that if I screwed something up, I would have the replacement part on hand.  Kind of a self preservation thing.

Now over time, if I knew something was going to become rare, like the Tamiya/Scale Motorsport Porsche 956 kit or Scale Motorsport's 935 super detail kit I would get multiples.  I now have 4 of the 956 kit and 5 of the 935 kits.  I think I always intended to build them all, but as just had my 70th birthday, I may have to pass them along to others to enjoy. One of the 956 kits is an autographed copy, signed by Brian Redmond, Jacky Ickx and other legendary drivers.  That will never be sold buy me.

May not be multiples of the same kit, so much, as it would be different re-issues of the same kit, with different wheels, decals, custom parts, etc....

My ratio there would probably be about 10%.

Although my stash is small compared to most I actually only have 1 kit doubled but my whole stash is just over 100 kits, really small compared to most

Not sure with mine...for me, the duplicates are for building variations.  Some subjects lend themselves to that more than others.

Yeah, spare bedroom.

I have mine in a 15' by 12' bedroom. I have so much stuff in there that there's not much room to maneuver. Quite a bit of stuff that doesn't pertain to building models.

Mine is in an 11'x11' bedroom.   I'm thinking of remodeling the basement 'rec room' (currently w/ cheesy '70s faux wood paneling) into a hobby room, it's a 15'x20' space I'm currently using for storage.
