Your expectations are very high my friend but I think that only a standard key can fit between the belt and the bracket. ?
Bainford Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 The awesomeness continues. Love the colours, and that alternator is too cool!

I'm pretty sure that the color won't please everyone but it's a color that goes very well with this body. The alternator is another one of those parts in the kits whose details always made me mad, I've been thinking about improving it for a long time and I think in all humility that it's quite successful... 19 hours ago, Straightliner59 said: Nor, can I, my friend!? Thanks Ian, the final result should be good with the drive belt in place and some small wires... ? Thanks again to all for your comments, the motor with transmission and drive shaft should be installed for good in the frame soon and I will try to post some pictures early next week. Francis
GoatGuy Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Francis, I always love to see your results. The contrast of gray and green will look awesome and the alternator is too. Wow!!

The assembly of the pickup is going well in my standards (very slow but constant... ?), I hope to be able to finish it soon and move on to a new project because it's been a while since I've been working on it as you know. cobraman Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Your updates never fail to impress. We may have to come up with a new word to describe how truly cool and detailed this model is.
Ian McLaren Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 I hope you are going for a more conventional belt material, if you show up with a machined aluminum belt with the correct angles, I'm selling all of my modeling BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and taking up Parchese. LOL The scary thing is that I'm pretty sure you might actually be able to pull it off.

To be cool, I think it will be but considering that it's not a logical choice for a drag racing vehicle, I think it will certainly add to the strangeness of the subject. I imagine it will surprise many at the next show... ? Don't worry Ian, the conventional material (real rubber) is what I have planned for the belt but as for the correct angle I'm afraid I'll disappoint you my friend, maybe the rubber will be soft enough to conform to the pulleys. ?
AmericanMuscleFan Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Hello everyone, I didn't have much time on the bench this weekend because I was working nights last week and I'm still jet-lagged... and I'm back on the day shift tomorrow, it wears the man out... ? Anyway, I managed to spend some time on the engine before installing it for good between the frame rails, I will do as much assembly as possible outside the body as I know the engine compartment will be quite busy with all the details I plan to incorporate. First I machined the oil pressure sensor that is located behind the intake. Secondly, I decided to make a remote oil filter because I think the lower radiator hose will interfere with the oil filter in the OEM configuration, I realize my water pump design is not perfect but you know as well as I do that perfection is not of this world! This remote design looks more drag racing anyway and I really like it. Third I made a coolant sensor, put the spark plug wires in the correct firing order and finally I installed the alternator, it fits perfectly... I mean very well...? ! Come to think of it, that's a lot of progress in my slowness standards... ? Back next week with more update. Francis Oil pressure sensor made of brass, you can see the hole, I will insert a wire to lead it to the firewall. Remote oil filter in the rotary table. Plumbing done. Another view, I will add a FRAM decal on the filter. Coolant sensor made from aluminum, the wires will run under the tunnel ram intake to the firewall. Coolant sensor installed. The alternator and mounts are installed, the drive belt is a gasket from a wristwatch that I adjusted to the desired length. 1
Russell C Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 But will your engine be so finicky that it can only run on racing gas, or will it be ok on just premium? ?
NOBLNG Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 That engine is a thing of Beauty Francis! I’d love to see a picture of it in the palm of your hand to get the full scale effect of it.
Tabbysdaddy Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Such a beautiful engine, and you go and put a Fram oil filter on it.
absmiami Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I have to keep reminding myself that it’s 25th scale …
Butter 1 Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Oil pressure and coolant sensors, I think you have thought of everything! Absolutely incredible. Haven't responded in a while but I keep watching. Hope to see the finished product at some event sometime. (Butter, defoosing the fd100)

Thanks Russell, but with the current price of gas here in Quebec, I think super will be the best I can afford, I'll save some money for spare tires..... ? I will not be able to fulfill your request because I have already installed the motor in the frame. I must confess that I'm still assembling without stopping to take pictures because I can't wait to finish it! It's been almost 4 years that this project is on my workspace and I don't have a space for photo shoots (my workspace is so cluttered). I will continue to take pictures of the parts I am making but the pictures of the assembly will be more limited because I have to strike while the iron is hot as they say... I'm trying to put as much as I can in but I don't know if I'll get that far with my next project. I'd love to do more than another before my dexterity leaves me and I switch to doing puzzles.... ? Thanks to all, the assembly and the fabrication continue, I will try to take pictures for the next updates, I must have more than 600 pictures so far, the administrators of the site are going to kick my butt if it continues... ?

Maybe it's not the first choice for an engine over 1000hp? ?
Tabbysdaddy Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 I was mostly joking. I'm sure many people have a favorite. I use STP, because I like blue.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted February 22, 2022 Author Posted February 22, 2022 No harm done Sean, I must admit that I went with what I had on hand. Not easy to find a decal that is small enough to not go around the filter twice... ? I'd have to get sponsor decals for 1/64 I think, maybe I could find a nice STP one! ? 1
AmericanMuscleFan Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 Hello everyone! The assembly continues but I don't have many pictures of the process because my workspace is not the best place to take nice pictures and sometimes the light is too strong or too weak to show the details I want to show you. One thing is for sure, when I will be at the end of the assembly process, I will take the time to settle down and offer you something more professional. The engine is finally installed in the chassis, the radiator is glued in the right place and the master cylinder is also in place. You'll notice that the hood hinges are no longer connected to the hood like when I made them because it was impossible to hide them before painting. I removed them and mounted them in their final location, I will just have to glue the hood on them at the very end. The pedal assembly is finished and the piston is connected to the brake pedal, the throttle cable is connected as planned, I will drive the other end to the carburetor when the time comes. I still have some missing parts to make for the engine compartment, I will start making them including more assembly, things are going well so far... Thanks for your comments and support, I'll be back soon, Francis Clutch linkage assembly. Sorry for the blurry picture, my camera sometimes has trouble focusing... Seen from below, you can also see the starter bolted to the bellhousing. The pedals are in place and connected as intended. Some progress in the engine bay. The radiator is in place. 1
