vamach1 Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I started this last year hoping to finish for the Philly NNL show. I did not finish in time and shelved it until last a few weeks ago and despite the show being delayed I dedicided to finish it once and for all. The decals (from Renaissance) began to fall apart so I have a little touching up to do. If you have ever built these IMC GT40's they are a bear to get to fit together on a good day. The front will not stay down unless held so I may do a little trimming once I figure out where the obstruction. It's unfortunate Fujumi did not go a step further with their kits (No engine and nothing opens) as the bodies are much more accurate than this kit that is over 50 years old. The only extras I added were the rear clear scoop and carb intake.

Gramps46 Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Well done Rex. Build ups of these kits to your level are so rare so thanks for sharing.
Rich Chernosky Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Nice job Rex...I built all of those IMC kits way back when. They were great kits in their time but difficult to get all the panels to fit. You did well.
magicmustang Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 You did well. Isn't it rewarding to finish a difficult kit.
89AKurt Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 I built the Ford J-car and can attest to the challenging assembly of IMC kits, no wonder they went out of business. Looks good!
Tom Louis Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Excellent build! I too have this kit, two actually, one labeled IMC and the other labeled Union, I think! To nervous to attempt the as yet! Good job on your!
vamach1 Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 (edited) Thanks guys. Here's another project that I experimented with to do a MKI with the updated 66 style front end using the "hood" from a Fujumi kit(like the green car). I have since smoothed out the rough edges. Since I'm a glutton for punishment I am going to take a crack at doing an early GT40 roadster by cutting up the IMC/Testors GT40 kit back section. This may involve some creativity but like many of us I have more time than I was expecting to have off these days. Pictured is the DDP models kit I saw on Facebook and that's what I would be shooting for to replicate but with of course that very tricky bundle of snakes exhaust system on a 302 with webers. Gramps46 Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Wishing you the best on the very challenging roadster project.
