Ha!  That wasn't us in SC.  It's the Tualatin River, near Portland, Oregon.

Okay. Than people in Oregon need to find better places to park there cars. ?

In my hometown of Hazlet NJ we have Natco Lake, which is salt water fed from tidal waters in the bay.  Every so often the police go fishing and pull some cars out. They corrode pretty fast in salt water. Figure they are stolen cars and insurance fraud cases.

Makes you wonder how many were reported stolen buy their owners way back when. Good way to get ride of a car and collect the insurance money. Car thief's would part out a car before getting rid of it unless these were just "Joy Rides".

Reminds me of the time about 20 years ago when a '58 Vette was pulled out of a flooded quarry back east (PA or NJ?) and was found to have only 58 miles on it, and the remains of the factory plastic on the seats - it had been hotwired and probably stolen from a dealer; the thieves took the engine and swapped on wheels and wheel covers from a '57 Chevy, then deep-sixed it in the quarry. Not sure what happened to the remains; the magazine (Super Chevy?) article said the rear axle was salvageable but the body was mostly gone.

I also hate to think of all the fuel, engine oil, coolant and other poisons that leaked into the rivers because of these dimwits.

i watched this video the other day. Its sad to think some of these collectible cars are in rivers and lakes.

Hey! I know that lake. Before I went to do what I've been doing for a living for the last 13 years, I use to work for Whitaker Buick GMC in Forest Lake, MN. In fact I was just up there a week ago Friday, visiting with my old boss Steve Whitaker. Forest Lake is a nice little town just north of the Twin Cities right off of I-35. An outer fringe suburb of the Twin Cities today. The downtown of Forest Lake sits right on Forest Lake itself. A beautiful little downtown on a beautiful, good size, lake.

I hate to say it, but I'm a little disappointed with the video. At first it was interesting. But, nine minutes just swimming around the same car got a little boring. It would been more interesting if maybe they gave us five or six minutes of swiming, and a few minutes out of water telling us what they found. Plus I would have loved to see more of the car's license plate. Were they able to rub off enough stuff to see year the plate was? When did it go in the lake? Where is this in the lake? And is it still there? If pulled, were the authorities able to tell us more be hide the story of this car and how it got there? Argh! There is so much more I want to know! Going to have to go to web to do some investigating to see if I can find out more.

I don't know if I should curse at you, or thank you, Scott. It's frustrating not to know more. But, it's so interesting, I guess I lean more to thanking you for posting this. Thanks Scott.

There is more on the web. But, very little more. It was for found in the Forest Lake I was think it was. "Scubapony" who shot the video claim that was the second car he found in the lake that day. He says nothing about what the first car was. It sounds like the Camaro is missing it's engine. Stolen car, anyone? Beyond that, that's about all of additional facts I could find.

I read where he said  he thinks it went through the ice but I'd be willing to be it was stolen stripped of some drivetrain pieces and dumped

What was fun in the old days. Which they could never get away with today. Community organizations do fund raisers, were they would place an old car on the lake ice and have people pay to guess when the car would fall through in the spring. The person who guessed the closest, would win a prize. Normally, they would clear the car of anything that could contaminate the lake. They would attach a chain to the car, so it could be pulled out later. And the car would sit on the lake in a location were people could easily see it. Then again, I've heard about thieves abandoning cars on lakes in the springtime to get rid of them. I wonder, which could this Camaro be? ?

In our younger days, I had a friend burn down his ice fishing house, rather than dragging it from the lake when the time came. This something the authorities didn't exactly approve of. But, I know he wasn't the only to do it.

I would think thieves are tied into this car. I couldn't see anyone wanting to sink a 67 camaro. I noticed in the video the quater panels were flared so id guess it had other work done to it an was stolen for parts but  a joyride or insurance couldn't be ruled out.

Carl people do it all the time. Not sure about these people but a lot of people do that. Most get out before the car or truck goes under.

Thanks, that was interesting.  Back in 1990s California, a screenwriter mysteriously disappeared while driving from Northern to Southern CA.  There were lots of rumors that he had been carjacked, robbed and/or murdered, since he was driving a brand-new SUV.  Plus all the usual conspiracy theories that he might have been running drugs etc. etc.

During one of the droughts in the 2000s the mystery was solved, when the water level dropped and uncovered his SUV. He had been driving on a road that parallels the California Aqueduct and went over the side.  An autopsy didn't show any foul play, so the best theory was that he just fell asleep at the wheel and went off the road, into the water.

These 2 cars were discovered in a lake in Oklahoma after missing for over 40 years. 3 teens inside the 69 camaro and 3 people in the chevy sedan. The cars were discovered feet apart but the article says police don't think the accidents are related.

I remember reading about that. I doubt I'm the only one seeing a new trend in building distressed models of cars and truck that have gone into the drink.

Thanks Andy, I appreciate your reply. There’s no way I would do that, some I guess was for fun or ice fishing.
