Modlbldr Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I sectioned and painted this back in June of 2018 and I'm just getting back to it. Throwing some BMF on it today and have been sectioning the interior. The last photo is where we are at today. Later-
espo Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Great looking flames. The section job looks real smooth. So what's the story on the little root beer Ford ?
Modlbldr Posted June 15, 2020 Author Posted June 15, 2020 Thanks David. The brown Ford is Josephine- the girl next door. It is a stalled project 50 Convertible that I added a stretched 49 Ford coupe roof to make a 50 Sedan. The paint is a HOK gold (maybe Pagan) with HOK Cocoa pearl over the top. Later-

They have both been fun projects. I have a few other interesting alterations to Josephine that I have done. When I get the yellow one done I'll probably get back to work on her. 1 hour ago, slusher said: Two outstanding projects you have going there Tom! Thanks Carl. Later-
Sam I Am Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Those are a couple of good looking shoe boxes Tom! So what are the plans for that Chevy pu in the background?

Thanks Sam. That 64 Chevy is another stalled project (notice a theme?). It has a NASCAR front suspension, bagged rear, body side and cab trim added. Later-
Modlbldr Posted June 18, 2020 Author Posted June 18, 2020 Got the body wet sanded and polished. Got to touch up the BMF and do the Molotow around the side window frames. The dash is done with the exception of the dials. I ordered decals from Best Model Car parts. Working on the steering wheel and column. Later-
gman Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 That is turning out very nice- well executed custom touches, paint and flame job. I too am appreciating Josephine. Great work on both so far.

espo Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 The steering wheel in the picture looks pretty good to me. The flams look amazing with the clear on them. What did you use for the headlight rings ?
Modlbldr Posted June 18, 2020 Author Posted June 18, 2020 Got some work done on the tires and wheels. I need to let these thoroughly dry before I mess with them and botch something. Later-

The headlight rings are from the 56 Ford Victoria kit. Later-
Modlbldr Posted June 19, 2020 Author Posted June 19, 2020 Getting a quick look this morning at how it might sit. Later-
Modlbldr Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 Good morning! I'm still plugging along on this during breaks at work. That's why progress is slow. I got the dash and wheel completed, with the exception of the gauge decals. I am waiting to get them from Best Model Car parts. They should be here in the next day or two. The steering wheel and column are just sitting in place. Because I painted the body a couple of years ago I didn't think about the chassis fitment. In order to get the front suspension lower I needed to redo the front wheel wells. I know the sequence of events is completely wrong. Oh well. I cut the wheel wells out and redid them with trimmed down wells I had laying on the bench from an 84 Chevy pickup. Once I get this all done I will tape off the engine bay and spray it yellow. Later-

I added lowering blocks between the spring and axle and ended up with the axle nearly on the frame. And it's still not low enough. I thought the rake looked cool so I left it. To get much lower will take some chassis surgery.

I may c notch the frame and move the leaf springs inward to be able to mount them up higher on the frame. I think I'm done for today. Later-
Modlbldr Posted June 28, 2020 Author Posted June 28, 2020 So, I spent some time last night adjusting the suspension to get it low. I cut the rear axle free of the leafs and added lowering blocks. Up front I cut off about half of the mounting tab length for the cross member/ a arm piece. I mounted it all up using a spare body. I think it looks pretty good. First pic was about halfway through the adjusting. Second pic is all done. Later-
