It would be great if there was a link showing the sale or clearance kits.

We can do that!

1. At the link I provided above, click on "Models" at the top of the page.

2.  A new menu will appear, with a "Specials" tab and a "Clearance" tab.   (The Rommel's Rod is in the "Clearance" section.)

3. While browsing Specials or Clearance items, you don't have to hit "Next Page" or the page number.  Just scroll down and the next page will appear automatically.

The RR kits were on ebay about the same price....I picked up another as we may never see it again.....odd kit for a German company to produce!

Better stock up on the Revell/Monogram branded Tom Daniel designed kits. Tom stated months ago that partnership is dead and won't resume, so prices for kits of his designs are only going to increase. Just look at what the Badman kit sells for on the secondary market.

REVELL- USA:

Well, it looks like the BAJA BANDITO kit is toast!

In addition - due to MAJOR contractual differences - my involvement with the “new”  REVELL-USA is over.

I don't know what the legal ramifications would be if the tooling currently held by the Germans was to be used with different decals and names on the kits if there was enough interest. Since Monogram has physical custody of some molds and presumably Tom was paid for his designs in the way back it probably falls under an intellectual property legal situation. A number of his kits designs were changed by Monogram in the mid 70's and renamed without his input although he still lays claim to them on some level.

Revell went design/name change route with some Ed Roth kits after they parted ways in the late 60's (Ed was hanging with motorcycle "groups" and generally didn't fit the image Revell expected from him during that time)

A possible option for reissued TD kits would be if Atlantis could have access to the tooling (purchase or lease) since Tom has currently thrown in with them. That would probably depend on the current financial situation at Atlantis and it's return on any investment. Tom, based on some of his comments on FB clearly feels he was screwed after the bankruptcy and sale of Revellogram. Doesn't really make any sense (to me at least) to leave tooling lie dormant if there's interest enough to translate into sales.

Tom is annoyed with Hobbico...and I guess if he wants to take it out on the current Revell US management that's his prerogative, but it's not like that is going to garner him any income.  He's left before and eventually came back into the fold, so I'm guessing they're going to try to wait him out again.  The problem for Atlantis would be even if they could strike an arrangement on the US based tooling to buy/lease it, a good chunk of the TD stuff is actually in China which adds a 3rd party and more costs into the equation.  In addition a lot of the TD stuff has underlying Trade dress issues - the Baja Bandito for example has to be licensed by Volkswagen since it's obviously their vehicle and uses their logos on it.  That's a licensing costs a larger company like Revell - particularly with German owners who have a very active VAG license - could carry, but then Tom got all bent over the fact he wasn't going to get the money he was owed by Hobbico and pulled out his portion of the licensing.  In a way I don't blame Tom for being rightfully angry about that, but at the same time hundreds of Hobbico employees were also completely shafted on back pay and their ESOPs, so it wasn't like Tom's situation was particularly unique.

Well, considering that most of TD designs where eventually re-issued without his name on the box, i don't see why Revell AG and continue selling them. Just switch to a more generic box, like Monogram did before, and Voila! It's back on the shelf!

Monogram 1/24 Baja Bandito (Monogram 854467 | MON854467) - Vortex ...

I cannot believe people on this board are conspiring to screw Tom Daniel!  Amazing!

Nobody is conspiring anything, he made his money already. Why can't the legal owners of the molds re-release them? They did it before and nobody complained.

The only time we complained is when the molds where modified.

Um no!  Tom Daniel owns the intellectual property of those designs just like General Motors gets paid when you model a 1967 Chevy.

I am not SCREWING TD out of anything.  Monogram has done these kits in the past....he was paid for them already. If the, Revell, use his name and design...they must pay. If they alter the kit and call it something else and DO NOT use his name THAT'S business. Alter something you have paid for ....you now own THAT.

What's amazing is the number of sheep in this country....THAT'S AMAZING!!!!
