Spottedlaurel Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 I started this one in 2008 for a Ferrari build contest on another forum. It never got finished and for whatever reason it sat in a box gathering dust for nearly 12 years until my son recently suggested I get it finished. So with the holiday time I had at home I did just that...... 43 parts! It's a reissue of the basic Monogram kit from the mid-late '70s. I've just finished the Datsun 280Z in the same series, and with a bit of thought and care they can be made to look quite reasonable. It was painted Tamiya TS-64 Dark Mica Blue, which even over a silver base and in strong sunlight looks almost black. The important thing to me is that it's not red. I used some 5-spoke wheels from a Tamiya Nissan Skyline kit, with wider tyres, and fitted some Fujimi accessory brake discs. I lowered it a little bit, some of that just to get around the body and chassis not fitting together quite as tightly as I'd hoped. Otherwise I just worked with what was in the box. 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Revell Ferrari 308 GTB kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Thanks for looking.
Can-Con Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 For a simple kit, they sure look good finished ,, especially in black. ???

Dave Van Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Nice work!!!! Did not know they had reissued that kit!! Wish thy'd reissue all those in that series WITH the 'racing' parts!
Dennis Lacy Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Love it! So nice to see one that isn’t red and it looks awesome lowered with the updated wheels.
Matt T. Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Beautiful build! So sleek. Classic Monogram - low parts count, looks great when done.
Spottedlaurel Posted August 18, 2020 Author Posted August 18, 2020 Thanks everyone. Cars like this aren't really my 'thing', but it was good to try something different and I think it worked out OK. Like the Datsun 280Z, it was good to have something that fitted together in a simple, positive way and looks effective on the shelf. Shame I didn't have some decent sunlight to get photos, it might have made the Mica paint do its thing.
BeakDoc Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Beautiful! The 308 GTB was one of those iconic cars that I drooled over as a teen. Well done.
Spottedlaurel Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Thanks Larry and Chris. I was hoping for some sunshine today so I could take an extra photo or two, but sadly it's not looking too promising.

It's a simple but good kit, I'd definitely recommend it.
