Primed the body and doors, hood , deck lid and hood scoop. Needs more blocking. But for the first round, not bad.  Used acid etch primer.

Thank you Dann. Sandblasted the inside of the doors, hood , scoop and deck lid. Badger sand blaster. Comes in handy on white metal.

Thank you Dann. After sanding and sanding and blocking the body it’s ready to paint. What I’m going to use. If the planets align, I might to be able to paint today. Painting is such an emotional thing. 68714CE7-920D-4792-BF6C-2546AC503659.thumb.jpeg.a2944920b2c37484734914edde28f427.jpeg

This basecoat is a bmw colorsystems paint. Water based. Their are advantages and disadvantages to water based paints. Advantages are easy clean up. Like tamiya, windex will work but I always flush out the guns with lacquer thinner after windex. Disadvantages are slow dry time. If you make a mistake, it takes longer to repair. I’m lucky because bmw paint says there is a shelf life so they replace it every two years. So I get the old stuff because they throw it out. I’m stocked for life on exterior paint. Three coats. Let dry then clear.

Agreed- that has given you a stunning finish. In spite of the intricacies of the MFH kit, it looks like you are taming it :)

Fantastic paint so far and you have just started. Lovely coverage....real pro work there with that gun

I suffer from that BMW policy of "Replace New" rather than repair anything...paying throughout the nose every service.

Good to hear you are picking up their 'old' paint.
