These are two I started a pretty long time ago but pulled back out and finished to get myself started building again. The '64 is of course an AMT '65 converted with resin bumpers and hood. Mild dechroming, a really old can of Testors paint (not ever sure the name), and Pegasus rolling stock. The '66 is a replica of a 1:1 car I built. It (like the real thing) has a shortened bed, lowered stance, '68/9 Chevelle hood bulges spliced in, and BMW 7-series split 5-spoke wheels. It's painted in white primer which never really dried so full of fingerprints too. Neither have engines or chassis detail, just a couple curbsides that got the juices flowing. Hope you enjoy!

A couple of cool looking El Caminos. The white one is a very close replica of the real thing. I am intrigued as to where and how much the beds were shortened on both the model and the 1/1.

And why?  I cannot see any benefit

They're both sharp! But, I really like the white '66! The shortened bed really improves the proportions and makes it more balanced. Nice and subtle touch on both! How long did it take to do it on the full scale car?

Beautiful looking El Caminos. I'm glad you pointed out where you shortened the bed. You can really see it when compared to the stock one in the picture. The Hood treatment also, most just put a Chevelle SS hood on an El Camino and that's OK but GM never did that. They way you worked the '68/'69 style vents look better to me anyway. I'm an El Camino lover and have owned a few. My Avatar is of my new '67. I grafted a Revell Chevelle front end on to a Revell '66 El Camino. There are more differences than there should be in plastic since it isn't that hard on a 1:1. You '66 model looks just like your 1:1 car.

Thank you. My first car was a '64 El Camino and that got it all started for me. I'd kinda like to have a '78+ one some day.

Great eyecandy. And I admit that I very often skip engines myself.... Too much fiddling with detail you'll never see anyway. Gluing hoods shut often overcomes fit issues by keeping everything in place. Yes, I am a bad person. :D
