I agree that adding a strip to the sides would work well.

Have to say on that resin hood, the scoops are way too far forward. The positioning of them on the '70 hood is more accurate. Since the resin hood is too short, it would be a pain but would correct both issues to lengthen it in front of the scoops.

I had no clue or gave it any thought about the scoops. As I had said , it turns out I can use both hoods on the 2 models, the best length fit is the AMT hood on the JoHan kit and resin hood on the AMT 72.

Just will need to widen the resin one.

Some updates my build:

I actually sprayed the body with Createx pearl gold but have not yet cleared it.  There has been a long discussion on my paint choice in another section and as of now I'm thinking a steelwool "sanding" and a couple  more base coats. The clear may darken it some (I assume) but I'm also hoping a couple more coats can't hurt.

The Johan interior door panels are devoid of any detail so I added the woodgrain inserts.  The dash ingraving looks good and I of course detail painted it.

Well thats where I am right now, working on the engine and waiting for a couple parts to complete the engine

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Dann and Jeff.  Got my Morgan Detail wired distributor in and rubber tubing for the radiator hoses so now I can get to work completing the lightly detailed engine.

Mike,

The work you've done so far looks very good! I like the woodgrain inserts in the interior and the body color should darken up a bit with the addition of another coat or two. Great work!

I recieved the resin hood pictured below from "Oldcarfan27" today. Thanks Patric.

This is the resin hood. I have positioned it so the front lines up with the front end of the fenders. It's a bit narrow and short.20201116_152859.jpg.f124621a55fa4805a4acddbd62fa37b4.jpg

No problem Mike, glad to help.

My suggestion would be to add strips to both sides, then sand flat the rear ridge  (that'll also clean up the chipped corner).

Then add a curved strip to fill the rear gap. Make it higher than the hood so that it will become the new ridge. Fill the transition with putty and voila! Hood should now fit.

Make sure you glue the rear strip in at an angle so it still fits at the cowl.

Hope this makes sense.

Got her clear-coated (but not polished out yet).  Rustoleum Crystal Clear Acrylic Enamel. First model I've ever cleared. A bit golder in the pictures then the way it really looks.

ooh, that looks very nice. I too dread the time to foil, I still use the old chrome pen when I've veered off course on a trim piece! haha,

That's a great looking color and  kind of reminds me of Testors Inca Gold. That Rustoleum Clear Enamel shot smoothly right out of the can. I just purchased a can of the lacquer version and hopefully my results will be as good as yours.

Looking forward to seeing this model completed.

I agree that from what I've seen it does look like the Inca Gold, but like I said earlier it looks more gold toned in the pics.

Thanks for the complements everyone.
