Started this build a few years back. Slow slow progress. Essentially building a tribute to my 1:1 Torino convertible.

I'm using the Revell Streetburner 1970 Torino GT kit as my base. That said, I bought a formal roof resin body that will replace the fastback body.

Here are some  'go-by' photos of my car

just to make things interesting, attempting to make this a top down or top up model.

Fireball set me up with staggered BFG shoes

working with the resin body has been interesting. soft lines, globs of material, mis fit with the GT components. Just like the real cars ?

OMG! I'm an old man and thought I had seen it ALL!

Is your Torino Conv a real factory-built car??

If so, I bet there were less that a couple thousand built, if that!

Your 1:1 Torino looks great. I also don't remember seeing any of these as a convertible. The two tops options for your build should keep it interesting.

Ha! It’s one of 3900~. 351c 2v car. Not super rare, but you generally don’t see them often. The red on red was fairly unique. I restored it to original, although I upgraded the wheels.

I built the convertible from a fastback , and another I added the Mercury Cyclone roof/trunk to create the 70 1/2 Falcon

Great fab work. That 70.5 falcon is legit! I’m looking at 59 impalas as a boot donor.

Great pair of photos. Same car?

Yep. Same car. Sans the sheep skin seat covers and body line moldings. We hit a deer in ‘87, so the grille was eventually replaced with a hideaway set up.

Very nice, Vince!  What are you using as the donor uptop?

thank you!

I bought the one i have a couple years back....and don't recall what it was off of. Eyeballing it....i think it will work as far as length/width. the back window will need to be modified. I've seen one done that used a '65 Impala top and boot. these were big cars!
I've been keeping my eye open for some of those bigger late 50's - early  70s convertibles for the parts. The boot on my car is particularly flat...dare i say concave. I figure that once the hard top is cut off, i can get more serious about top/boot dimensions...

Wow,  Vince that's so cool you kept that car in the family!  My dad had a 73 Dodge Challenger (blue) that I distinctly remember as a little kid.  When our family grew, the car was less practical so he sold it to my aunt, who committed the almost criminal negligent act of never given the car an oil change.  You can imagine what that did to the engine.  Makes me want to cry thinking about it.

Working getting the Mach 1 mustang to sit in the Torino chassis. Little trim and shim. Also added an actuator to the Air cleaner.

1:64 scale interior is coming along. Top removed and shaving the fast back deck. Found a donor with perfect bench seat.

1:18 scale interior is shaping up (removed console).
