Codi Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 What a great example of this car Bruce. Well done! cheers, tim 1

Funkychiken Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Fantastic build so far, looks like the body parts are coming out of the box fighting you! Engine looks amazing! 1
Brudda Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 Ok starting this one again. Layed her out and looks as if I’m going to have to paint the chassis, mask all the tubes for the frame. Since this is a what if, I’m going to paint her a light pearl blue with orange to look like the gulf colors. The framing will be painted orange. It will take some time and a lot of tamiya tape. Here we go again
Pierre Rivard Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Took a read of the whole thread and my head is spinning. I love the outrageous 935/78 and your build is amazing so far. MFH kits are for the very best builders (certainly not for me) and is is so much fun following this. 1
magicmustang Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Also, glad to see you're on this one again. Incredible work. Thought I would show a pic of my Nitto 1/28 Porsche 935/78 (built 40 years ago) to show the opposite of your well detailed kit. I think it cost $3.00 then. An okay three footer. Will be following your build. 1

David G. Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 It's nice seeing this one back on the bench Bruce. I think the Gulf livery is a great idea! One of my favorite paint schemes. David G. 1
Bainford Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Good to see you back at it, Bruce. I'm enjoying this build. 1
Brudda Posted November 24, 2024 Author Posted November 24, 2024 Since it’s a “ what if build”, I was looking at the rear of the car and the wing and long tail just looks odd to me. So I asked Claude for some tips to make it look better as a model. So I will be experimenting with cardboard paper to see how it looks. Maybe that’s why they called her Moby dick.
Brudda Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 Fitting the engine and trans. I will be painting the chassis a light pearl blue with the tubes orange. So this will take awhile. A lot of masking. All of the tubes will be painted orange. I believe this will make the engine compartment and interior look very cool. A lot of work but I believe it will be worth it. Claude made a great suggestion on the rear shape of the rear wheel opening. Make it more round like the front. I am going to do this as it will make the body look more uniform. There is a lot of room to cut the rear. But I’m going to lake a different rear wing and see if that will make it look better. Claude suggested that if I shape the wing to conform to the body it might make it look better. I’ll try that before I cut her apart. Thank you Claude for the great ideas. I knew the design studio would come thru with great ideas.
David G. Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Wow Bruce! That engine looks like the real thing. It'll be awesome with the color scheme you're planning. David G.

Brudda Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 Finally painted the chassis. Fitting the rear engine and trans. A lot of masking of the chassis tubes. They are going to be the same color as the wheels.
Mattilacken Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Nice build! Its kind of cool that the "original" fenders are left in there, as they probobly would do some weight reduction if removed. But it might be a rule thing as well that I dont know about. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 The rear view shot with the visible engine is awesome. Hope there's no plan to add a cover to hide that beast. 1

Thank you Mattilacken. The rules are really strange but Porsche took advantage of them, BMW was very upset .

David G. Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 This just keeps getting better and better Bruce! That engine is amazing! David G.

But I took a lesson from my friend Mark about resin warp in mfh kits. Did what he said and my body now is fixed, Boiled water and put the parts in for only 30 seconds , took out the part and massaged the part to shape. With gloves on of course. I was a little worried about this. Had a problem with my resin cobra frame. Was a twist . Boiled water and did the same thing. Left the frame in a little longer because it was thick. Well now going to sort out the white metal mess. Necroposting? Guilty as charged. What a great tip. I was afraid all we would get was that you used a technique somebody passed on to you, and that's all. Great explanation.
