Dave B Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I'm in the MG car club down here and one of the trophies is a TC in a glass case. Unfortunately this was dropped and one of the committee members, knowing I was a modeller, purchased an unbuilt replacement from EBay then, after talking with me, arranged for the broken model and unbuilt kit to be given to me. On inspection I decided the broken one was repairable so I stripped it, tanked it in caustic soda and built both at the same time. I think Robin will be suitably surprised when I return both. Tks for looking
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Nice save, nice build. I have one of those patiently waiting to be a club racer.
Snake45 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Great save, I can't tell which one was damaged and which one is new. I recently bought a Monogram metal-body kit and you're inspiring me to get to it. Well done and model on!
Paul Payne Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 That's a great restoration- I have a metal body TC as well and the delicate chassis components don't like all that weight- I need to figure out how to reattach a broken front wheel to a broken axle as well as some other damage from household moves.
drodg Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Love the TC's ever since I read The Red Car by Don Stanford as a kid. I have read it multiple times and still love it. My 18 year old grandson has read it twice. Nice work on them.
TooOld Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Great save ! Anybody that's ever driven a TC knows how much fun they are to drive !
1959scudetto Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Very nice TC's, David - the only difference is the color of the horn (?) below the right headlight.
Justin Porter Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 These look really great. The Monogram MG TC is one of those kits I keep promising myself I'll watch out for.
Dave B Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Tks guy's, I appreciate your comments. Helmut, the one with the black horn is the original, it is also minus both the rear view mirrors. I also had wheels broken off and managed to drill the axle and wheel and pin them with spring wire and super glue. Dave B
