old (1985) old-school builts: red is brush-painted, cream, black and white are sprayed from the rattle can, whitewalls are brushed with Humbrol matte white, trim is painted Humbrol silver.

The black one is a bit lowered, grille is a Canadian Meteor (?) amt custom part, fender flares cut from sheet plastic, continental kit comes from Monogram's `56 T- Bird (though 1/24, it fits quite well). Wheels are steerable, all doors open.

Very nice builds! I love that kit

Thank you Keith - I like that kit too (also the amt '57 Ford), especially for its posable wheels.

Beautiful work as usual Helmut!!

Thank you, Anders, but all of my builts are nowhere near the quality of your models.

1956 may have been Ford's best styled cars ever. And the '56 Ford kits were examples of what AMT could achieve when they really tried. AMT also did well with the '57 Ford kits.

Beautiful looking pair of Fords. They both are cleanly detailed and I like how you built one as a Hardtop and the other as a Crown Victoria with the glass roof option. This was some of Fords best styling.

Love the look of the black hardtop, so sleek. The red Crown Victoria is brush painted? Could have fooled me, that paint has great self leveling characteristics. Great builds!

Thank you, Mike ! Yes, the red color is brush-painted with Humbrol enamel which had excellent characteristics back in the day (not any more today, as I've learned in this forum).

Thanks, John, I had a  lot of fun assembling these two.

Thanks, David - I wanted to build them a bit differently (not only the colors). I have to find a way to tint the glass roof (maybe with Tamiya smoke clear from the can ?)

There have been issues of this kit in the past where they included a green tinted or clear roof panel. Neither are true to the original. Looking at pictures of the 1:1 glass roof cars they seem to be sort of a greenish blue color. I would consider using some of the tinted clear paints that are normally used over a silver or gold base for a candy effect.

Interesting Info, David - but as I have no airbrush, I'm depending on the available spray-cans.

The colors I was suggesting can be had from Tamiya and in rattle cans.  My painting is about 50/50 rattle cans and air brush.

Both looking good Helmut! I'm not usually a fan of the Continental kits, but I like that one>.

Thank you Dave, this was a leftover part from a '56 T-Bird I just backdated to a '55 and therefore deleted the Continental kit.

They both look great. Love the color choices.

Thank you, David - this was one of the attractions for me in the '80s: two-tone paint jobs and white walls on the '50s cars...
