Scott8950 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Saw this today and thought it was pretty cool.. https://www.motortrend.com/features/1970-road-runner-rat-rod-superbird/ 1
Daddyfink Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I like it! That is some serious creativity! And no real birds where hurt in the making of such a beast!
NYLIBUD Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 I gotta say it’s hard to look at that poor thing, but I still love it,very cool bird.?
Snake45 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 (edited) Actually, it's not THAT far off from the "Stupidbird" I'm building for the 2021 Cannonball group build. Mine will be in overall primer, though. Edited September 8, 2021 by Snake45
Dave Van Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 I'd own it!!!!!! Before Dad passed I remind him that I told him to buy a Superbird when Terry's Plymouth in Charlotte had them at blow out price in 1971!!!
Lunajammer Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) I'm gonna throw the BS flag at the "scant $8,500 invested" line. Minus $1,600 for the nascar chassis, he built it for $6,900 which includes a clean LS engine, A/C all electronics, nascar parts, wheels, tires, etc. Yes, they scrounged a lot, but even the bird nose and fender vents won't be had for just beer and a handshake. More accurately might be other people invested the rest, just not their own wallet. Edited September 9, 2021 by Lunajammer

I would bet that even with them doing the work themselves it cost more than $8500 to build. 1
Mike Stem Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 It's a sin to put an LS in a MOPAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of guys in my area have done the ls swap in just about everything from mopars, fords, Porsche, import cars and even a geo. Those engines run good for very little money that's the reason everyone uses them and they are plentiful. The ls and sbf are very similar in alot of ways. Edited October 29, 2021 by Scott8950

Certainly costing them more than a mere $8200 plus to build a replica Superbird. Body parts, LS engines (not cheap by all means), tranny, roll cage, interior components, etc.... The list goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, it is a cool project and all but I’m surprised a reputable auto magazine would actually believe building such a iconic automobile as “affordable”. ?
