OldNYJim Posted December 14, 2021 Author Posted December 14, 2021 A few more! I’m REALLY enjoying these videos - and there’s a good interview with Doug (below) where he mentions that there are plenty more to come…I hope this series runs and runs! 1
tim boyd Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Thanks to David Dale for the heads-up, and to Doug Whyte for the initiative and production, for the latest release in this series. It is about model car mag writers, and includes interviews/comments from Rick Hanmore, Bill Coulter, and myself. I'm not You-Tube savvy, so maybe someone else can post a link. I gather it was just released by Doug. TIM 1

foghorn62 Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 If you haven’t seen any of Doug’s YouTube videos yet, you owe it to yourself to check them out. His series is called “Model Car Muse”, and can be found by searching that name in YouTube. Doug’s approach is very professional and serious, and covers a wide variety of topics related to our hobby, with an adult’s perspective. From the people, to the events, and the “how to”s I have learned some new things, seen some “old” friends, and enjoyed his topics in each addition. We are fortunate to have a person like Doug, with his professional expertise combined with his level of personal interest and ability in our hobby, to apply his talents to these videos! 1

What Tim (Slesak) said about Doug and his video series....spot on! Thx Tim! When Doug and his team were doing the video interviews at NNL Nats #40, he told me that this YouTube series or something like it had long been a dream of his, and with the assistance and encouragement of family members with Video-editing capabilities and the last-ever NNL Nats taking place, it was time to finally act. For the sake and history of our hobby, so glad he did....TB Thx Tim....TB 4
paul alflen Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 In the last video by Doug, "The Influence of Car Model Writers ", the late Chuck Helppie, appears with Rick Morgan at about 6:40 into the video! '
OldNYJim Posted March 12, 2022 Author Posted March 12, 2022 Doug is such a good presenter - so likable and good at communicating. This week’s video ? : 1
alan barton Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 These videos that Doug produces are so easy to watch. He has such a pleasant manner and can give you all the information you need. I have never met Doug but it feels like I am listening to an old friend. Doug is living proof that you don't need to go off like a frog in a sock to make an entertaining video. I can't wait for the next one! Cheers Alan 1
UNO Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 I would like to see a full episode on his 1969 NASCAR Dodge Daytona. I have an eye out for a new episode every weekend, it’s definitely the top YouTube channel. A episode whit Juha Airio would be great.
Ulf Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Now I've seen the latest episode of Model Car Muse, good as usual, a highlight Saturdays every other week. It's surgeon level model building really but always with the encouragement not to forget to have fun. BTW, I watch all the Donn Yost videos too, really good and a bit different angle. What they have in common is that, like good writers, they follow their formula, their person. 2
Mr. Metallic Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) The Model Car Muse video series popped up on my radar again with the just released History Of the NNL video. I'm going to revive this thread to share direct links to the Model Car Muse videos. I hadn't visited their channel in awhile and didn't realize how many new videos there are. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Edited February 13, 2023 by Mr. Metallic 1
Richard Bartrop Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 It's always amazing to see how much just a different set of wheels can change the character of a hot rod.
foghorn62 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I always look forward to the next episode of Model Car Muse! Doug has an unassuming, and calm personality, that makes the program very watchable, while at the same time, informative, and inspiring. Many of the guests on the show are friends of mine, some of whom I haven’t seen in very many years, and others with whom I have become acquainted in recent years through forums like this one, and social media groups. Other times, Doug shares some of his own excellent tips on various subjects associated with our hobby. Every week, I look with anticipation for the latest episode.to see what he has come up with next. Last night, I was excited to see five of the original members of the NNL, talking and sharing stories about the early days of the NNL, why and how it got started. I am proud to call several of those guys my friends, and feel like those that I haven’t met yet, will be as soon as I do. Doug, if you are reading this, thanks for the work you are doing to promote our hobby, and thanks for your friendship. I hope and pray that you will find the time and motivation to continue on this path for many years to come.. Tim Slesak 1
Mr. Metallic Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Great episode, over an hour long, on the history of the NNL. 2
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Here is a link to Randy Derrs 2023 GSL Winning corvette. 3
absmiami Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Douglas interviewed Randy after the awards banq - so stay tuned …
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Great news. Always enjoy Doug's video. It was a treat to see such a detailed view of Randy's amazing corvette. In the past we were lucky to see a few photographs or maybe view it in person.
Ulf Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 MCM is now almost two years old and in recent weeks I have been rewatching old episodes. MCM really stands the test of time. 2

bobthehobbyguy Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Both MCMs are very valuable modeling resources despite the fact that there initials are the same.
