Brutalform Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Very funny comedian, from Saturday Night Live, stand up and Adam Sandler films. His dry voice made him all the more comical. Pretty sad news. He fought hard. 1
Snake45 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Very sorry to hear this. He originated the term "fake news," or at least was the first person I ever heard use it, long ago when he was doing Weekend Update on SNL. Thanks for all the laughs, Norm. You will be missed. 1
Rob Hall Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Sad. He was very funny during a funny era of SNL.
larman Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Sad to hear this, didn't know he was sick. Very funny guy.
iamsuperdan Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Norm has been one of my fav comedians for years now. I think I first really noticed him when he played Burt Reynolds / Turd Ferguson on the SNL Celebrity Jeopardy skits. Then when he was in Beer League with Artie Lange. I think my fav joke of his that I can post here is his moth joke. “A moth goes into a podiatrist’s office, and the podiatrist’s office says, “What seems to be the problem, moth?” The moth says “What’s the problem? Where do I begin, man? I go to work for Gregory Illinivich, and all day long I work. Honestly doc, I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore. I don’t even know if Gregory Illinivich knows. He only knows that he has power over me, and that seems to bring him happiness. But I don’t know, I wake up in a malaise, and I walk here and there… at night I…I sometimes wake up and I turn to some old lady in my bed that’s on my arm. A lady that I once loved, doc. I don’t know where to turn to. My youngest, Alexandria, she fell in the…in the cold of last year. The cold took her down, as it did many of us. And my other boy, and this is the hardest pill to swallow, doc. My other boy, Gregarro Ivinalititavitch… I no longer love him. As much as it pains me to say, when I look in his eyes, all I see is the same cowardice that I… that I catch when I take a glimpse of my own face in the mirror. If only I wasn’t such a coward, then perhaps…perhaps I could bring myself to reach over to that cocked and loaded gun that lays on the bedside behind me and end this hellish facade once and for all…Doc, sometimes I feel like a spider, even though I’m a moth, just barely hanging on to my web with an everlasting fire underneath me. I’m not feeling good. And so the doctor says, “Moth, man, you’re troubled. But you should be seeing a psychiatrist. Why on earth did you come here?” And the moth says, “Cause the light was on.” I still giggle at that one. And my fav joke that I definitely cannot post here...just google his Dirty Johnny joke, about Uncle Terry and the war. Classic. 1 1
HomerS Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 He was the voice of Death on a couple early episodes of Family Guy
Rob Hall Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 He was also the voice of Yaphit on The Orville.

TonyK Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Always liked his different style of humor. Sad to hear of this. I can always hear his voice delivering funny lines.
cobraman Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Just watched an episode of his old half hour tv show on youtube, pretty funny. I was working nights when it was on and never had a chance to watch it.

BTW, the theme song is actually the first big hit for "Doug and the Slugs". Most of our friends from south of the CDN/US border probably haven't heard of them but they were one of the biggest Canadian bands in the early '80s. and one of my favorites.
