Oldmopars Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 I got some work done on this today. I had seen somewhere that the cabs on these delivery trucks were lower. A few pictures seems to confirm this, so I had to lower the cab down. This is not an easy job. I lowered it 1/4in. However this meant moving the body mount, lowering the engine, locating the power steering pump, chopping the front of the frame down, modifying the radiator and several other things. However, in the end I like the look and think it was worth the trouble. I am waiting on some frame parts to lenghten the frame. So, at this point there is no cross members in the rear half. I also did some 2d drawings in our companies CAD software to calculate the wheel base and get some plans for the Cola Cargo area. Slowly moving forward.

GLMFAA1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 This one was built years ago, lots of evergreen plastic. curbside with no details. 72nd 1/F4phantom wheels for dolly. Nice to have cad this was done with T square and triangles. I think there are after market steps that are available instead of the round over the road tanks. The gas v8 from the C Cab kit will fit. greg

I have been wanting a C cab truck anyway, I may get one to steal the gas engine from and stuff the C with the Diesel. I will be swinging by a Hobby Shop this next week to stock up on the supplies I need for that conversion. It seems that even with all the Evergreen stock I have, I never have what I need. 1

But, that’s what we builders do. We know it’s there. I was just pondering the strength of the modified chassis on the 1:1 trucks. I’m wondering how much the body helped to reinforce it. Probably not much? But, I suppose the trucks were not usually put through too much beyond what they were designed for. Edited January 17, 2022 by vincen47
Oldmopars Posted January 18, 2022 Author Posted January 18, 2022 I am currently out in Montgomery AL for work. At lunch I spotted this Coke truck just like I am building. I asked the guy if I could take pictures of it and he said yes. So I am dropping the here for reference. Of course mine is a Ford and a little older, but this helps with construction. Anyone know where to get D shaped tank or the side step?
