Lobo2me Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 (edited) My daughter learned to drive in this cute little VW. A dozen years later she was still grossing about selling it before moving to CO. She wanted it back but learned the next owner's brother had totaled the car. So I decapitated a Fujimi Golf Mk3 CL/GL and achieved the unique "Pinkish Lipstick Red" by shooting three coats of Testors Electric Pink and Revving Red simultaneously (a rattle can in each hand) over a black base coat. It worked and I surprised her on Christmas Edited January 10, 2022 by Lobo2me 2

iamsuperdan Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Moved the post for you. ? Great looking Cabrio!
rightrudder Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Nice! You nailed the seat covers. REAL leather still has the spots!!
spencer1984 Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Great build, and very clever way to get the color!
espo Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 It's easy to see why she would regret selling this VW. I remember when the Cow seat covers were a thing. Great looking reproduction and hard to tell them apart in the photos. She better start saving some money and try and find one on the used market.
Lobo2me Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 Thanks Dan...great to know someone is looking out for my goof-ups!
Steve H Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 That’s awesome! Very nice replica of her car. I would imagine that put a big smile on your daughters face when she saw it. I love these types of builds no matter what the subject car or truck is.
stitchdup Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Nice work on the top chop. Your the first builder I've seen get the decklid right, most don't remember the lip
