Bob, she has a great looking stance.  Did you get those wheels from. The pro sportsman kit?

Thanks Carl.  Those wheels & tires came out of the AMT 67 Chevrolet Pro Street kit.

Man, that is looking sweet. Have you tried fitting the interior yet?  Mine looks like it's going to need some modification to make it work.

I did do a trial fit and didn't think there was going to be much of an issue.  Are you using the 55 firewall?

I did a trial fit also and there was a considerable gap between the body and the back deck of the interior. I think I can fix it with some shims. But I didn't have the dash or the glass installed, so that may make a difference. Right now I'm thinking of going with the 55 firewall as it is only a small piece anyway.

Sounds like the glass will fit in that gap.  I'm using the 55 firewall and the Interior tub just clears the firewall.

Did some more trail fitting and all looked good but disaster hit.  I started putting the bmf on the side trim and the blade started chipping paint off.  Never seen this before so I changed blades.  Still chipping paint.  Not sure what was going on so I peeled off the bmf and cut a new piece and changed blades again.  Still chipping paint, I have not clue.  As always, I let the weight of the blade do the cutting.  Paint job is trashed.....I'm am so ticked off.  It's back in the box.  Probably needs to be stripped.  Just not up for it at this point.

Aww man I hate that, it was looking so good. I got my other chevelle donor kit today so I hope to get more done on mine this weekend. I am going with no chrome at all on mine, I don't enough BMF to do it all anyway and I'm too shaky to try using a sharpie.

I'm sorry to hear this.  I usually wait much longer before foiling a paint job.  When using clear lacquer I usually wait about 1 - 3 months before even polishing it.  Lacquer never actually fully cures anyway so the longer you wait the better.  A guy I know who paints cars always said to wait about 3 months before polishing or handling lacquer.

Got to be a big disappointment after all the effort you put into this and then get to the foil and have it all turn bad.

Bob I hate to hear this, can you use a chrome pen and mask around It?

Thanks fellows.  I'm on the road now but when I get back I'll assess what I'm going to do with the 55.

The 55 body is in the Purple Pond.  As soon as the weather turns for the better, I'll get a new paint job on it.

You may find that the "purple pond" doesn't do much to strip your Tamiya paint. Since it's a form of lacquer Super Clean usually doesn't do anything. You may need to switch to 90% alcohol, which is what i use to strip Tamiya and Testors "lacquers"

Sounds to me like a paint adhesion issue and not an issue with your bare metal foil technique. Two things that might help would be eV to wipe down the body with alcohol.  Also carefully sanding up to the edge of the chrome trim with 1000 or 1500 grit sand paper.
