Zippi Posted July 16, 2022 Author Posted July 16, 2022 (edited) I cleaned up the Flatty engine parts and see that Revell went with the Helmet style distributor vs the Crab style. Much easier to wire this one. I'll have to make a couple tubes to run from each side of the distributor to up and along side each head for the plug wires. I got the engine front cover installed and did a trial fit to the chassis. Looks like it's fitting nice and straight. Edited July 16, 2022 by Zippi
bisc63 Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 Looking good. That Tamiya paint responded well to wet coats, didn't it?! Nice color, too. Thanks for posting that nice engine bay reference pic, that will be helpful to many.

Zippi Posted July 17, 2022 Author Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) It's been 48 hrs so this morning I got after it with some 6000 & 12000 wet color sanding. I normally don't do this but the paint looked a little grainy in spots. It's got that nice chalky look so I'm ready for the clear coat. Rain today and tomorrow so Tuesday looks like the day. I've also got something in mind about the tube that runs from the distributor up alone side the heads for the plug wires. Edited July 17, 2022 by Zippi

Bugatti Fan Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Nice model. Does the kit allow it to be built stock also?

Zippi Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 (edited) I got the Tamiya X-22 Clear on the body this morning. I thinned the clear with Mr. Color Leveling thinner at 2-1. One tack coat and two heavy coats. I think it looks pretty good. I'll let this gas out for a couple day then wet sand and polish. Edited July 19, 2022 by Zippi

Zippi Posted July 21, 2022 Author Posted July 21, 2022 I got everything wet sanded and polished this morning. Still need to build the engine and get some detail work done.
