Sorry, I just need to say something.

I point I keep hearing is "kids only like new, they don't like old".

But do they sit down and build? Some do, many don't. If they don't have the desire or inclination to even take the time to work with their hands, what's on the shelf won't even matter.

I'm seeing a lot more gundam kits than ever before, less military, but cars have the widest variety on my HL shelves. And somebody's buying them too, because they're always having to order more.

My son loves old cars going from the Model T to muscle cars to station wagons, he enjoys them all. And he does like Japanese cars too, especially of the 70s and 80s. He collects 1/64 diecast versions of the cars he likes, which is all over the board.

But, does he build? No.

Legos- Yes, he'll build them any time any place! If it's a Star Wars ship, he's got them all.

He has the passion, he doesn't have the desire. He sees me work on mine and he likes what I'm doing, but model building just doesn't float his boat - Yet. He's exposed to all the good things about building models, so maybe someday the fire will ignite. Heaven knows he'll already have the inventory when I leave.

Am I the only one who really wants to know EXACTLY the full inventory of what Atlantis bought from Revellogram?

Over the past couple years, Atlantis has been drip-feeding us stuff, and it would be super awesome to know for sure whether they have X Y and Z in their inventory.

Just off the top of my head: Olds Aerotech, Corvette Indy, Pontiac Banshee, Shelby Charger, Chevy Citation, 85-ish Dodge Daytona, Monroe Handler, and squillions more kits. Would be great to know what Revellogram blew off, and what we can expect to see from Atlantis in the coming years!

Pretty sure they keep that kind of info to themselves.

Stef....they have literally hundreds of tools that they have yet to inventory and check out.  Atlantis is a very small shop, and they just don't have the headcount to do a full inventory all at once..and even if they did, I doubt that they would want to share that level of detail in a public forum like this one.

Having said that, I just did a one page "Classic Kits" feature on the olds aetotech kit in one of the more general model hobby mags.  I agree with you...it's a fascinating kit and like you I would love to see it have another chance in today's sophisticated adult car modeling hobby.

Best....TB

You're not wrong, Tim. No doubt they have a lotta holy grails, and perhaps even an Ark of the Covenant, or two.

You want to know the state of the hobby? It's simple! Just look at AMT about to tool up a 1/25 scale kit from a T.V. Show that has been off the air since March of 1967! Before I was born later that year! LOL! And the show only lasted One Season!!

If that does not say 'We Are Catering To The Boomers" I don't know what does! LOL!

We, Gen X, are lucky we did not have the modern day distractions and thus had to rely on physical activities, reading, Television and our own crazy imaginations! And the model companies catered to us at those times. Revell made all of these Adventure Kits with extra goodies and we ate them up! So maybe in about 10 more years, I am 54 now, they will start making more A Team Vans or something more obscure.

As for kids today, I am not going to worry about it, as long as I had fun with my hobby, they can figure it out themselves!

While I love and build 60s-70s models, my youth was more the 80s-90s Rad period. My memories of the muscle cars was more when they had been through a few owners, rusty, dented, with lots of Bondo, a cueball shifter from Western Auto, Montgomery Ward mags and offbrand wide tires. For newer cars, I more remember the Miami Vice exotics, or the everyday Omnis, Escorts, and Civics. If you had gas money back in those days, you might get a third gen Camaro, or Foxbody Mustang.  I'd even buy models of the proto-SUVs like the Cherokee and Bronco II or those raised roof Chevy vans with the captain's chairs, shag carpet, and bay windows cut into the sides.

Sorry, I fell into a nostalgia rant, I'm better now.

I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would really like to see the latest version of the dirt Sprint Car that Revell only released a single run of before the wheels came off from the parent company. It would be super cool to know if the molds are still out there and who has the current ownership of them.  It would almost be worth the cost of the kit to have a parts pack of just the updates it contained.

That kit was released as the Saldana car AFTER the implosion.  It was run in China and labeled under the Revell GmbH ownership, so they still have it.

Thanks, I just wish they would put it on the boat before the tariffs hit, it's just ridiculous to pay $75+ for a one issue kit that is still an up to date model. The $30+ is bad enough but add a 60-200% tariff to it and it's in the collectible price range. I can see a big increase in sales for Atlantis and any other manufacturers that can get their production back in the states.

it wont matter where the kits are molded, there is still import duty on the raw materials so the production will stay mostly in china, where wages are much much lower. if a mold is in china it wont be leaving china, no matter who owns it. remember what happened to the revell model a coupes an they just changed factory.

I think speculating on tariffs is at best reckless and at it's worst fear mongering. No one know what tariffs, if any, will actually be applied to Toys (which is how model kits are considered by U.S. Customs). Removing politics a giant smothering blanket of high tariffs would just result in counter-tariffs on U.S. Goods and once U.S. businesses start howling and people's 401(k)s crater from the drop in the markets there would suddenly be a magical change in policy. Any tariffs would have to be targeted as they were in the last go around - to whit the present administration never rescinded the majority of the one's put in place by Trump 1.0 and we somehow all managed to survive.

Tariffs would also be applied to the wholesale taxable value of the item, not the MSRP so presuming the end cost would jump that high is incorrect. A flimsy "did it just cause I said I would" 10% tariff would add like $1.80 to the price.
