Slotto Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) my first weathered car. This is a curbside -no motor. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. Build Thread Thanks for looking! Edited September 1, 2022 by Slotto 3
bisc63 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Very well done. You got a realistic appearance, and it's not heavy-handed, as these can tend toward. It deserves a rusty/oily/dusty engine! 1
Zippi Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 The 53 looks pretty sharp. Nice weathering for your first time. 1
oldscool Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) I like it. The weathering is realistic but I was digging the hub caps. Edited August 23, 2022 by oldscool 1
Slotto Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Thanks Gerald. I really like the hub caps too but I couldn't pose the front wheels with them. They were too big and sort of unrealistic
cheyenne93 Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Nice job on the weathering / patina always a cool look.??? 1
espo Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 As others have mentioned, this has a very realistic finish on the body. I like how you removed the body side chrome and drilled out the mounting points. The chrome rims and wide whites look great on this. 1
happy grumpy Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Great job on your first weathering project. Weathering opens a lot of possibilities for you to exploit , at times ,It can be demanding but it can be really satisfying, as your model demonstrates. 1
Slotto Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Thanks everyone. As I sanded thru the top coat to reveal the "rust" I tried to think about where water would pond and how the sun would fade the top coat. This was fun and I'm already thinking of my next weathered project.
dino246gt Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Looks great, realistic and cool with those wheels, nicely done! 1
Just Jim Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Great look, nice job on your first weathering 1
KWT Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Steve! This turned out awesome! Can't wait to see the next 1
