I came SO close to doing this for my entry as well... even opened the kit and looked It over... but then decided on the viper.

Looking forward to seeing yours complete!

Well I got started prepping the body this morning..

I'm trying to figure out how to go about lowering her down a touch...

I'm actually working on this one, while I build another copy and clean up a old build from 20+ years ago... There's roadrunners laying everywhere

#2 Chevrolet Silverado C5R

I made some progress on the chassi. The front bracing is started as well as radiator support. Also the back wall of the cab have been cut out of the body and engineered back to the chassi and the rear part of the pipe work have been started. Will ad a picture of that asap.

Well after a year of staring at this Buick, I might as well stare at it for another year.. lol

I'll be in with the '62 Electra...I've cut the trunk open and started on figuring ride height, sanded off the side mouldings, and other than that, haven't touched it...

Lets hope I can be just a bit more productive this year.

A quick reminder of what I started with.. I think there have been some modifications along the road! And there would have been many much easier ways to do this!! But a corvette racer hidden in a Silverado body will end upe some thing like this!

Figure I'll throw my hat back in this year.  Only this time I'll remember to post in the completed thread....

I am planning on this for my humble submission.  It is a mostly disassembled glue bomb.  It is going to be modified quite a bit so even the "completed" parts will require quite a bit of work.

Got the body sanded down.. It's about ready for primer to see what I've missed.

body.jpg.43dfcfca58ae42b554ec825431b6fac1.jpg

One thing I knew I wanted to do is fill in the hole in the hood. I glued in the scoop and filled in the gap with super glue. Then sanded down and hit with primer.

hood3.jpg.75438c50b0a588bb24c751bb88d4ee06.jpg

I need to sand this down and add something to fill in a little more and it should be good to go soon.

Now back to the figuring out the suspension and engine.

1953 Ford Entry

Before discovering this thread, a couple of days ago I pulled out a Lindberg ’53 Ford and did some mild modifications in preparation of a future build not knowing then that it would be my entry in the 2023 Cannonball Run

I have always been a fan of the Carrera Panamericana road race both the original and the revival and the cars that participated. Other open road races in the USA have created a style of automobiles that that have become known as Pro-Touring. A couple of years ago I built a ’64 Fairlane Thunderbolt as my take of a Pro-Touring version of the Holman and Moody road course 427 Fairlane which could have been a past Cannonball entry. At the time I had the intension of doing similar modifications to a ’53 Ford.  ’52 to ’54 Fords have participated in both the original and revival Panamericana. So the back story on my model is that it will be a car that was built for the Panamericana but rather than later being restored was modified in the pro-touring style.

Some of the mods I have planned

BODY – dechromed with remaining trim done in dull silver, slightly radiused wheelwells, a small trunk spoiler between taillight pods

INTERIOR – comfortable and supportive seating, different steering wheel, roll cage, extra gauges and a navigation screen

RUNNING GEAR – lowered, big brakes, up to date wheels and tires

ENGINE COMPARTMENT – The engine will be an OHV Ford V-8 likely a Y-block which this body style would have used from 1954 on. It will have some sort of enhanced intake system either fuel injection or some form of supercharging. The engine of course will have headers. A six-speed transmission will be used

COLOUR – The colour scheme will be the same as my Thunderbolt – white lower body, silver roof and red interior

This is the afore mentioned Thunderbolt on which the pro-touring styling for the '53 Ford will be based

Nice look to start. Did you build the cage?

Expand

Modified the cage from the AMT 67 Chevelle pro street kit. Opened in t up and both the chassis and body are badly warped so it became a parts kit.

Got some of my ebay purchases in today including these fuel cells. Thinking of leaving out the the passenger seat and mounting the big one in its place like a real cannonball car did a few years ago in a rental mustang
