Mike 1017 Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Mecum has sold them a few times. They always say, "This car has been licensed" They have never said " Who licensed the Elanores" Mike

webestang Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 A couple of years ago I did find the original version of the original on VHS for 49 cents at a thrift shop. I also have these and I found the original on blu ray for $3.74 at Walmart. 1
keyser Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 That’s a big “That’ll Buff Out” collection ? 2

It's basically the "movie" that was being made in "The Junkman". It's worth a look but I'd rate it 1 1/2 stars out of 4. 1

Mattilacken Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Glad she lost, since it’s an outrageous claim! Feels a bit like it’s a vendetta for some obscure reason.

Yep!!!! and the original is SO much better than thee updated one. I bought the VHS years ago, had my brother convert to DVD for me. 1

I bought the VHS years ago, had my brother convert to DVD for me. I did the same thing with the tape I found. I was thinking of recording the VHS sound and the video from the DVD back to DVD or VHS. There are 2 versions of the tape, one in SP and the other the horrid EP mode. I own both as well as the restored version on sealed VHS I found for 99 cents. And there is also a Beta tape version. I'm still on the hunt for that one. As far as I can tell the original was never released on Laser Disc or CED formats. Beta tape cover. 1
1972coronet Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Original opening theme song (I'm good with either/or, with a slight lean toward the "new", instrumental piece -- it fits the dingy, overcast Los Angeles's South Bay region better, IMO. I'm sure that locals to the southern California region understand where I'm coming from). 2
KWT Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) Slightly back on topic... at least the Eleanor in question... whether you dig it or not, I believe it would be a solid release for Revell or Round 2. I'd buy one... Edited December 17, 2022 by KWT 1

It would be easy for AMT, and later Revell, to do the 1971 Mustang "Eleanor" cars with just slight mods. The 2000 film version would probably require a new tool

While Round2 has made a few changes to the MPC kit branded as AMT, they still have those $%^&**# vents in the back of the hood which never have and will never be correct for any 71-73 Mustang hood. Even more unbelievable is the same mistake has been made in the Ertl 1/18 diecast models. It makes me wonder if they even bother to look at a real car when they decide to make a “new” model. But they say no $$$ in budget even though they have/had the Elanor license. BTW: I am going to make my own. Modelhaus did the wheel covers and a JoHan M/T Mustang funny car has the flat hood and it is a perfect fit. 1

Well, they would have to make a new hood for Eleanor, as it was a flat hood, right? 1

It would need the 71/72 front rubber bumper but the 73 grille. The movie car was quite the hybrid representing a modified 71/72 Mustang with a blacked out rear like a Boss but a standard flat hood. Like others have mentioned the Johan Funny car provided the hood (after cutting it out of the one piece body). I have never read where Eleanor had the Mach1 option when originally purchased but with all the medications made by Halicki it’s had to know for sure but I have my doubts that it did. 3

Why sure but then you end of with something like this Revell one. Be careful what you wish for. There nothing really Eleanor about this diecast “kit” except the color. But since it is a nice otherwise stock GT500 it does not bother me at all. Greenlight did a decent diecast (except for those side mirrors) but I guess they paid for the licensing.
