Been there, so I can empathize how you're feeling. Hopefully you can get back to building soon.

Well let’s see where I left off!

Well I unboxed and have started sorting through what I had planned and I’ve decided that the ole truck will be indeed powered by ford, I’m going with a flathead from the amt 34 ford. Found that the frame rails had separated at the Z, so I have added some inner boxing plates at the joins. This ole red plastic is not playing very nice, if I continue to have bonding issues( I’ve never had an issue with the selection of glues I have before)  I’ll have to switch over to the newer rat rod kit.
and of course the obligatory mock up again to see the vision again.

Well I got it up on four wheels with suspension components and I’ll have to address the front track, she’s a tinch too wide and the rear could come down a little more. That’s all workable which is great news

I've got one in the stash as well. What glues are giving you issues?

I use mainly Tamiya liquid cements, regular through intravenous thin, but I have some of the new revell and a limited supply of model master liquid cement! Various brands of ca as well.  I think my boxing plate will hold, it was a very fine joint to begin with and maybe it just jostled loose in the move.

Well we are inching ever closer to having a stance that will bring it closer to my vision!
dis the ole tried, tested and true method of taking some springs from the front spring pack that gets the front down to a almost Tire touching the fender look I’m after! The rear is not as bad as it had looked before. It will see another tweak later.

Had to get at least one item in paint though so I started on the flathead. Our highschooler has gone with the flattie from a 34 ford and will give it a proper spray can rebuild with the addition of a dual carb manifold. He has his eye on a set of chrome cylinder heads but they may be out of his reach atm. He is still broke from the outlay for the mismatched five spokes and new Firestone’s. Once we can temp in the engine we can start the complicated exhaust work.

The last pic is the gang of hotrods I’m currently working on.

This is a build that has been stuck in my head for over a year now, very heavily inspired by the Boyd tribute thread. But with a little more Bullybeef flavour.

I’ll be starting with the Molded in red 80’s version and inspired by the box art from the 65 release. The stance from that release is just killer.
I have a mock up started and will start soon.
I won’t be using the stock banger 4 as it deserves an 8. It will be blue oval powered and that is a definite. Just have not decided on which engine yet. I am still gathering parts.
Because this is still in the planning stages I yet to decide on full showrod look or a well used high school hot rod custom with some age marks.

I’m have the exact same kit and I’d really be interested in how you end up doing the rear suspension as the ride height with the stock parts is way too high.

Well Brian let’s see if I can shed some light here for you, I started with a Zed frame in the rear and have hollowed out the rear spring perch so that the spring pack can sit higher in the frame. I’ll try to get some detailed pics to show that.

Bill your truck has a great stance a looking good.  You have the other two build looking good also..

Thank you Carl, I’m happy with the stance of the truck now, it took some fettling to get it exactly how I wanted. I’m almost finished with the extended mock up process(especially for me) the exhaust is hopefully finished today! More soon

thanks for following along and as always feel free to comment!

Good to see this moving again Bil

With the glue thing I use Tamiya thin and if it is to be structural, I usually do a back up run with thin CA. Works for me.

And yup the standard A-Bone chassis is way too high in the back and needs to come down by any means. Have you got a spare Revell roadster Lo-Boy chassis as this is Z'ed but most probably the same as you have now and it has a flat rear crossmember so you can use a quickie unless you graft in the x-member from the A-Bone

I like your wheel and tire choice too

Thank you Bill, I’m going to stick with the kit frame as I’ve already done all the modifications to get it at the stance I wanted. I had thought of using one after following the Tim Boyd tribute thread.
This is still a high school hot rod and a work in progress not a high buck show car.
junkyard v8 from s wrecked 34 ford sedan, removed springs to lower it, mismatched wheels with new firestones, this as low buck as a hot rodder could afford on his part time job at the gas station job could pay for.

The creative juices have been flowing and I’m trying to keep up! That and I have a few builds that were in need of finishing. I’ve been good so far at not starting anything new besides the 32 sedan.

Rescued a tonneau cover from one of the old toylike lindberg( I think)  32 ford trucks. Not sure if I’ll end up affixing it or not but it will look good I think. Also started work on getting an amt 29 hood to fit and make it a smoothy one piece.
