I used pill bottles as wheel tubs a few times over the years. You gotta sand the shine off and good old testors did the trick for me both times. Looking good so far

I think I have the wheel tubs about where I want them.  I tried 3 different glues to glue the white sheet stock to the pill bottles and they all failed.  I have white glue (Mod Podge) on it now hoping that will work.

Similar to what the Steve's mentioned.

Sand both surfaces with 320 or 400 grit and use CA glue. It will create a stronger bond and more solvent resistant than white glue. Also the benefit of using CA, it will act as a filler between both materials which can be sanded flush eliminating the join line for a cleaner look.

Also if you want to get the body back to clean bare plastic, dip a cotton ball in Mr Leveling Thinner and wipe over the body it will get rid of the remaining primer. Might take some time and a few cotton balls but worth the effort imo.

Thanks Luke.  If the white glues doesn't hold I'll buy some CA glue and give it a try.

Great start Bob!  I love 56 Ford pickups and you can't go wrong with the Pro Street look for this one, It is a classic!

This isn't the first time I've heard of someone using pill bottles for wheel tubs, they seem to be the perfect size for 1/25 scale.  As others have already mentioned, CA glue is a must for gluing different types of materials together and is easier to use than 2-part epoxy.

Much appreciated man.  I had some CA glue on hand but it was for wood and it didn't work.  If the white glue doest work I'll pic up some CA glue for plastic.

The wheel tubs are glued in and the chassis has been modified to except the blown engine.  I have the hood marked where I need to make the cuts but I'll wait on that until the engine has been glued into the chassis.

Will you be creating substructures for the engine plates to attach to the frame?

Yup.  For now all I did was modify the frame crossmember to let the engine set down far enough.

I am also in favor of using the CA glue instead of White Glue. I would sure hate to see those tubs pop apart from this model when finished as it won't be pretty. ?  For peace of mind please consider using the CA glue.

It's looking good Bob. The CA glue I use is Loctite Gel in the squeeze bottle, works good for me.

Thanks James.  Yup, gotta get some.

I'm headed to the hobby shop on Tuesday as I have a couple kits on order that may have come in.  I'll pick up a bottle of CA

Temp in the garage was 63° and the humidity was at 38% so I got the body in primer this morning.  Going to let it flash out for about 30 min then fire up the Dehydrator and let the parts dry for about 4 hrs.  I did not prime the hood yet as I still need to make the cut out.

I got the engine wired, headers installed, and some black wash on the engine.  I'll let everything set up and tomorrow I can glue the engine in place then start on cutting the opening in the hood for the blower.
