rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Looking very real. Even the windshield wipers look like they work.
Jim B Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Very nice. There was a GTO in I Dream of Jeannie?
Gustavo Reis Posted February 15, 2023 Author Posted February 15, 2023 Yes Jim B, there was a 65 and a 67 convertible GTO in I Dream of Jeannie.
happy grumpy Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Great job on the GTO. Clean trim and panel lines.
espo Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Great looking GTO. Did you have to remove the roof or was the convertible an option in the kit?

ismaelg Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Very nice job and a great looking car! I don't remember any car from the series. Only the beautiful Jeannie.

I can't tell if its a '66 or'67 since there is no front or rear view but as far as I there there was never a '66 GTO Convertable model kit. So good question David.
Raoul Ross Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) The first IDoJ GTO was actually tan, was only in one or 2 episodes and ended up becoming the first MonkeeMobile, true fact. That's why the MonkeeMobile has a tan dash/steering wheel. Nice job on the Goat, Gustavo! Edited February 16, 2023 by Raoul Ross
XYHARRY Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Nice GTO Gustavo, your TV theme builds bring back lots of good memories. Keep them coming. Cheers,David. ?? 1
TonyK Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Very nice looking model! I always thought it was appropriate that an astronaut would drive a hot car like this.

Cheers,David. ?? The above photo is a ‘67. I understand that the ‘66 convertible went on to become the Monkeemobile No. 2 (the one with the A/C vents in the dashboard) after the 1966 season. ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ promoted Pontiacs in the show. (‘Bewitched’ promoted Chevrolets.) Edited February 16, 2023 by blizzy63
Gustavo Reis Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 Thank you guys. espo, this is The Revell 66 GTO kit, I remove the roof and replace with the AMT 65 GTO, also made some modifications to look like 67.

The Original MonkeeMobile was a tan '66 without A/C... it was a bare bones stocker with a top round push-button gear selector. The second car was a '67 with the rectangular gear selector. (The grills kinda give it away) The *Model* of the MonkeeMobile is a mashup of the original and the 2nd version. The original had no A/C and a solid-mounted rear suspension as Dean thought they wanted a wheelie car. The original also had only the resonators replacing the original mufflers with the downspouts exiting just in under the rear axle. These are pix of the original and 1st MonkeeMobile. Note the purple(?) carpeting. The lever on the right side of the driveshaft tunnel is the chute release. Also note that the 1st MonkeeMobile had a pin-stripe down the side, the second '67 verson did not. Edited February 17, 2023 by Raoul Ross
