espo Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Just got back from a short trip and I'm catching up on yours and some of the other builds hat I have been following. You mentioned the possibility of a small top chop for the window fitment. Your last picture doesn't look like you have done that yet. Just another thought on the windows. When I ran into this problem on the one I built I used some L shaped plastic strips to fill the gap and act as window moldings as well. 1
Steve H Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Hi Greg! Great looking truck, and I love the low stance. Looks like you are working your usual magic here. Cheers, Steve

I am going to use the glass from the ‘55 Cameo kit. It fits much better. On 4/9/2023 at 10:03 AM, Steve H said: Hi Greg! Great looking truck, and I love the low stance. NOBLNG Posted April 13, 2023 Author Posted April 13, 2023 I’ve been fiddling with this off and on lately. I managed to get some interior door handles and window cranks made. Now I am making some tailgate hinges and chains that can be installed after paint. That’s all for now. 2
ncbuckeye67 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 That 3rd set of wheels almost look like the ones from the Revell boss 302 Mustang

NOBLNG Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) The hood wants to slide forward and not sit where it’s supposed to, so I added a magnet in the cowl and a metal tab on the hood.? The tab actually came in handy.? It gave me something to clamp onto so I could paint both sides of the hood at one time. It sits nicely now!? I changed my mind on the color, since I have another project that I want to use the nail polish on. I printed the speedometer, got rid of the column shifter, finished off the interior and got the body painted. Edited April 19, 2023 by NOBLNG 2
Belugawrx Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Nice mods to this oob build Greg Stance is perfect?
David G. Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Killer stance on this one! I also like the wheels and brakes, not to mention the color you chose. It's all coming together quite nicely. David G.
espo Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Nice looking color and paint. The interior is very realistic looking, especially the seat pattern. What did you use to represent the fabric seat insert?

I think I will give up attempting oob…it’s just that every kit seems to need improvement.? 3 hours ago, David G. said: Killer stance on this one! The color is actually Duplicolor GM engine blue.? 29 minutes ago, espo said: Nice looking color and paint. The interior is very realistic looking, especially the seat pattern. That is the way the seat is molded, unlike the Cameo kit which has a smooth seat. 5 minutes ago, SpikeSchumacher said: Looking good Greg! Thanks Mathias Edited April 18, 2023 by NOBLNG 2
NOBLNG Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) So I am going to try my hand at a weathered look for the first time.? I found this picture online and it’s the look I am going for.? This is my first attempt and I wish I had put a little thicker coat of red oxide on it because I sanded through to the white plastic in a couple small spots.? I am not starting over though and I do have an idea how to fix them. I still have the flat or satin clear to apply. Comments or criticisms welcome. Edited April 20, 2023 by NOBLNG 3
espo Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Looks great. Consider sealing with a flat clear instead of gloss, that would be more natural looking. 1
KWT Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) Nice job I do believe... I use tamiya weather powder on mine when I do this... put some on the areas you sanded through, then cover the body in flat clear. After it dries I go back to adding power to areas... I'm not an expert by no means, but it works for me Edited April 21, 2023 by KWT Clarity 1
Mr. Metallic Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Looking good. One thing you may want to look at is since you are detailing the underside, there is a big gap between the cab and interior floor once they are assembled to the frame. Many builders have added a simple U-shaped piece of sheet plastic that goes down the sides and around the back of the interior so it fills in the gap. When this kit was brand new I believe Scale Auto even included a template in their article on the kit for the piece I'm talking about.
Justin Porter Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 This really does look like it's coming together. I'm still shaking my head at that windshield fit though. That's just an absurd gap!
Butter 1 Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Nice weathering, and the chains and interior all look really nice.
mchook Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 This is your first time doing this kind of weathering? Great job! If you sanded through some of the red oxide just decant a little, thin it and brush it on the bare spots, that's what I do. Keep up the great work!
