Matt Bacon Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 I've been building this since Christmas, more or less, so a few more pictures than usual! Let's say that while the kit parts are generally excellent, it is let down by incomplete and inaccurate instructions (now on the fourth revision and steadily improving, but still...) and engineering that takes little account of buildability. That said, it's a very involving build, and really lets you challenge your skills. Good tools are essential, and there is no way a novice is going to be able to put this together out of the box with just the instructions and screwdriver provided! Anyway, on with the show... I now need to go and build something a bit simpler.... and quicker! best, M. 8
TonyK Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Very nice! Does it come painted and decals already applied or did you have to do that? 1

It’s mostly pre-painted… the livery is especially nice. Quite a few of the details are painted but the wrong colour, or painted without cleaning up the parts first, so there’s a fair bit of tidying and refinishing needed for an authentic look… best, M. bbowser Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Simply gorgeous! You are obviously not a novice, thanks for sharing this with us. 1
1959scudetto Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 (edited) Fantastic model, Matt - one of F1's alltime greats in probably the worldwide best known livery (as is Gulf in sports car racing)! Edited April 16, 2023 by 1959scudetto 1
Bugatti Fan Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Very , very nice model! Telford entry this year Matt? 1
Belugawrx Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Beautiful build Matt! I have the Tamiya 1/12 staring at me from the shelf..... Cheers..well done! 1
Pierre Rivard Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Excellent model Matt. 1/8 must be tough because the detailing is so visible. This car is one of the F1 giants and you pulled off a beautiful replica. 1
SpikeSchumacher Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Beautifully done Matt! A classic livery on a classic car. 1
happy grumpy Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 All that extra hard work was well worth it, this a beautiful piece. The JPS livery was always on my favorite. 1
atomicholiday Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Stunning build. This is about my absolute favorite race car ever. I used to have the Revell 1/8 lotus 72d, but sold it years ago. Really regret that decision. 1
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Super everything! I built the Entex plastic kit in the same scale in 1981. Your model brings back good memories. Hopefully you can find a clear case for dust protection. 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Holy..." Shut My Mouth" Absolutely Incredible. Your quite right about an amateur like me never being able to build this. Even with ALL the best tools needed! Think I'll just sit back and stare at it for a while. You must certainly be placed in the MASTER class of builders. Thanks for posting. 1
Dragline Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Epic build Matt. That DV looks ready to rev. Fantastic finishes everywhere you look. Top marks. 1

I started out thinking a few pictures might help other people, but we all hadn’t realised how bad the instructions were in some places! A great community effort from everyone and it’ll be there for others in the future… best, M.
