Revell 1981 Camaro Z28

Recommended Posts

This is Revell's latest reissue of the '81 Z28. Not a great kit. I tried to correct some it's many flaws.

The kit interior is very light on detail and actually looks more like a Firebird interior. The owner supplied the interior from a Monogram 1/24 '80 Camaro which I finessed into the 1/25 body, added Berlinetta strips and piping. Wheels are from a Monte Carlo on Parts Pack tires. The T-tops were removed and I corrected the front and rear windows. Paint is Scale Finishes' Chevy Charcoal Metallic. It's built curbside so I didn't have to deal with replacing the engine.

Thanks for looking. Hope you like. Let me know what you think.

Beautiful looking paint and Z trim. The finishes and the interior are very realistic looking. I was working at a Chevrolet dealership when this year model came out and the first one received was this color combination without the T-Tops. I took it for a Demo and stopped at the Mall on my way home that night after work. When I came out someone had pried off the tri color Z-28 emblems from the grill and the fuel filler door. The dealer was not very happy, and I got to pay for the replacements.

Thanks David. Funny story. I worked at a dealership up until recently and was always paranoid about driving cars home. The Murphy's law thing.

Other than a 70 split this is my favorite Camaro. I wish you guys could have seen Pam Babino driving hers on the Ave in 1986. Blonde hair blowing with Queensryche blaring on the tapedeck.

Many a mortal man was jealous when she picked me up in it.

Oh the build....... Awesomeness bro.

Sorry, got carried away there....

Very nice, and a sharp color choice! You did a great job on an underwhelming kit!

Underwhelming indeed.

Thanks!

Now that you say the interior was wrong look at the wheel openings they are Firebird too. Camaros had a flattish area at the top of the wheel openings. Nonetheless you did a beautiful job on it!!
