Great engine work. I have to ask...have you ever experienced an issue with the Tamiya black accent reacting to a painted finish?

Lots to love on this one, like that dry sump tank. It just gets better and better.   :D

Thanks Bill.  I though about doing the hardlines for the oil coolers but decided against it.

Hey Steve.  No I have not had any reaction from the detailers, I have used black, brown and gray.  Black being the most useful in my opinion.

Fantastic detailing you are doing here JC!? I won’t be nearly as meticulous as you when I get around to building mine, but I will definitely be referencing this thread for all sorts of tips. Thanks!

Thanks Greg, hope this project helps your build.

I have a resin kit of a Porsche 356 GTL Abarth.  The kit provides the body, side window frames, seats, dash and door handles.

I have started trying to build it.  I was fortunate to find windshield glass (from a Fujimi Porsche 911 Speedster) that fits well enough after modification.

And I have modified a Porsche 356B chassis pan which is what the 1:1 was based on.

Is that the one from ScaleKraft or the one from Star Dust Hobby House?

Not sure, it was a gift.  It's old as I understand it so I assume it is the ScaleKraft.

The Abarth resin body looks very good. So you are now doing 3 cars on this w.i.p.?

Busy man!

Couldn't resist having a go at the Abarth.:)

Turns out that the 356 Abarth ran the 1964 Sebring 12 - entered as #44 - could i convince you to build it in the Sebring livery for The 64 Sebring group build ?  I’ll even say …. Please … the Racingsportscars site that’s linked in the first page of the Sebring build thread has a picture - - -

There were 2 other Abarth Carreras, #45 and #52.

Let me see what I can dig up on the cars.

Decided to have a go at building a car dolly for the 356s.  I made the supports removable so that I can adjust it to fit other cars.  Had to add a few more braces since mine isn't made of steel.:)

Happy with the stance on the Abarth but need to address the discrepancy in the front wheel openings.

Thought the nose might be a touch high but looking at ref picture it appears to be right. That Abarth looks really good. Would be cool to enter it in Andy's 64 Sebring group build.

Thanks Pierre.  I'm doing research on the '64 Sebring cars in hopes that I can build one.

The body sits level so that was what I was after for stance.  The cars were designed with significant clearance at the front wheels.

The wheels you have on currently are the ones that are currently on the car that was on display at the Lyon Air Museum a few years back. Most of them had the normal 356A/B wheels on them. I may build mine as the #44 but I am also considering the one from the Ingram Collection.

These are just wheels I'm using for mockup Maxx.
