shoopdog Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 (edited) I bought this kit at a garage sale for five bucks this summer. Decal were unusable so I purchased these Warbirds Decals from Hobbylinc. Actually they didn’t cost a penny using built up rewards. Paint is all Tamiya rattle can. Plane is ready for it’s maiden flight with Paul A. Conger at the sticks. Thanks for looking and welcome your feedback. this plane was a beast Edited September 30, 2023 by shoopdog 6
Jim B Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Great looking Thunderbolt. I love the silhouettes comparing the P-47 to other fighters of the era. Really shows you just how big The Jug was. 1
Nacho Z Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Ooohhhhhh yeeeaaaahhhhh! Very cool! You just have to love these WW2 prop jobs. I recently built an Academy version. As a car guy, I really do get why the airplane guys are airplane guys…lol. Thanks for sharing! 1

Are you saying that the kit was a beast to build or that the aircraft itself was a beast? If it was the latter these were indeed a formidable opponent with 8 .50 cal machine guns. Frickin' aircraft shredder.

The build itself was quite easy, but you are correct, with the 8 .50 caliber guns it was definitely the beast!
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Great looking old Jug. If I had the money to buy a warbird, a P-47 bubbletop would be it...but I could suffer through having a razorback, somehow... Anyway, nice work. 1

My dad (who flew Spitfires in WW2) always said the emergency drill in the P-47 was to undo the seat harness and run around the cockpit. He and the other pilots in his squadron used to refer to the P-47 as 'seven tons of screaming sh*t'. Nonetheless these 'planes and their pilots did an exceptional job and this model is a great tribute.✌️ 1

Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Looks great. My dad loves these. Looked into one of the 1:16 ones from 21st Century Toys for him back in college. Didn't get it at $50. Now they're $300+! I do have a die cast of the box art plane though.
