Deathgoblin Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 I was about ready to throw this one and I'm glad it's done. Instructions are really vague on assembly order for the exhaust/engine installation and doesn't mention at all that you have to drill out the holes for the pins. Color is Wimbledon White (because it's what I had on hand) with a gold and brown interior. It came out okay: not my best, not my worst. 10
Zippi Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Good looking Poncho. I'm liking the Wimbledon White. Nice build.
TonyK Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 That looks real good and the interior looks like you did a lot of detail painting. Pictures never give us a clear view of all the work involved.
Mike 1017 Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 I hope that mine turns out to be as good as yours. Mike
ncbuckeye67 Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Beautiful work! I love the color combination. You're 100% correct about the vague instructions, but they sure are pretty though (Lol).
papajohn97 Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Very nice job Brian and a perfect color for that car (I remember lots of white Pontiacs back in my childhood). Despite your challenges, looks like you won the war with the ill-fitting windshield and grill (unusual for Moebius, their other kits are nearly perfect). I’ve built one each of the Ventura and Catalina kit and have a Ventura left in my stash with a set of Royal Oak S/S decals, your build is inspiring me!
happy grumpy Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 That turned out super nice. The color combo is on par with what you would have seen on the roads back in the day.
espo Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Great looking color combination with the interior. The 8 lug wheels are nicely detailed. Like this kit and agree with you, it does take some finessing here and there in assembly.
karbuildr Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Nicely done. These big Pontiacs had so much style back then. Very good color and interior choices, and those 8 lug wheels sure are nice.
bbowser Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 All of the above plus clean foil work, thanks for posting!
Kah puts Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 Top drawer build there, the interior colours are really period looking, I like it ?
Deathgoblin Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 I learned looking at other builds that the wheels would take some extra work. I found that I could split each wheel at the mold seam with a saw, then I ground down the front section to thin it down so the inner part fit better. Also trimmed off the little spacers off the inner wheels in between the fins to get them a little closer. When I was ready to put them back together I used a piece of styrene to space the wheel halves back out to the correct width.
Rattlecan Dan Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Turned out very nice. All that effort was worth it. Nice job.
