It was re-issued recently but you didn't recognize it. The tooling was changed from the sedan to a pick-up/woody back in the 60's.

If there was demand this could be a "low lift" clone kit as all that is needed are the sedan specific parts.

Think this one qualifies: don't think Revell ever reissued the '69 Dart after their initial mid-90s release.  Every version since then has been a '68 (Mr. Norm's GSS, Dick Landy drag car, then finally the still available Hemi Dart 2 in 1).

My first thought was that this is a rare "modern" example, but I think we're closing in on thirty years since this one was originally released.

I totally get it Robert.

When I started collecting in the late 70’s a vintage kit could be a recent as an early 70’s annual and a really vintage kit was just 20 years old.

Now I look at kits from the mid 80’s and 90’s as “modern” even though they are 30 ish years old.

This is a collection I recently pulled from a local attic. 25 annuals, 2 Monogram dragsters and a craftsman Jr.

Of the annuals only the 62 Fury was ever re-issued.

To echo what Steven Guthmiller has been saying, more often than not annuals were one and done kits.

Do you mean the Jo-Han '62 Fury like the reissue in my pic below?

All of the USA Oldies kits were re-issues.

I don't believe that Revell ever re-issued their '62 Fury though.

But if the Buick convertible in Craig's photo is a '59, the hard top version was re-issued as the "Boondock Bomber".

I'm thinking 1962-ish?

The "South of the Border" series was very late '60s or very early '70s, I believe. I know the '65 Riviera was in it, and I'm thinking the '66 Skylark as well.

A few of the kits were re-issued as different body styles: The 59 Buick HT (mine is a convertible), the 63 Impala HT (mine is a convertible), the 61 Ford Victoria HT (mine is a Starliner) and the 63 Galaxie HT (mine is a convertible).

That is true but most, if not all, were re-issued with a number of incorrect, non-original parts - usually interior pieces or the entire interiors. I have Plymouths with Dodge interiors or steering wheels. The 1962 Chrysler 300H was re-issued with the "lower level" non-letter car interior. The correct factory stock kits were one shot deals.

That’s true.

Actually, the USA Oldies ‘62 Chrysler interior was not a ‘62 “non-letter car” interior, but rather a tub taken from the ‘65 Chrysler 300 promo.
