Zippi Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 This 40 Ford pickup is really taking shape. It's going to be a Looker. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Missed this one earlier. Moving along nicely. Really like the stance and wheel choice. 1
dino246gt Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 (edited) I fitted an electric fan with motor (piece of sprue drilled for some wires). Started the tuck and roll interior. Stay tuned! Edited December 18, 2023 by dino246gt 6
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Your construction methods are truly excellent and your great attention to detail is paying off Dennis ! ? You have a lot of talent and fun, it shows! Sorry for joining the parade so late but I'll come back to see what happens next. 1
dino246gt Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 After cutting out the instrument cluster, I thinned the backside so my clear-decal-styrene "cluster" would be closer to the front. I drilled out the knobs and made a new radio blank-off plate. I thinned the kit steering wheel by about 50% then made a simple column from styrene rod and styrene tubing closer to the wheel itself. Here they are painted up. 1
dino246gt Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 These old trucks had "through the floor" pedals, but the kit had............. nothing! I made up some basic "through the floor" pedals! 2
dino246gt Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 I modified a heater from the Revell '40 kit. I made some straps to keep the doors from opening too far and made a basic gas pedal. 2
dino246gt Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 Although I'm not finished with the interior, I decided to brush paint the wood bed floor. Foil to follow..............eventually! Cheers! 1
JollySipper Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 This is going great! That last pic shows what the color scheme is gonna look like........ Gonna be a treat to see finished! 1
redscampi Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Pretty phenomenal work you're doing on this. Love the truck! 1
TarheelRick Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Enjoying watching this one come together. If I remember correctly my uncle's '41 had a floor mounted starter button. To crank it you put the key in the ignition, then mashed the starter button to fire it up. The button was off to the left of the gas pedal and behind the gear stick. Anyway, really like the detail you are putting into this one. 1
NOBLNG Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Everything looks great Dennis! Nice fixes on the dash and steering column.? 1
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Great job Dennis, all you have done are real improvements, you are taking this kit to another level and it is a pleasure to see! ? 1
espo Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 I like the attention to detail on this build, a shame some of it will be so hard to see on the interior when completed. I'm seeing some great ideas to use in future builds for myself. 1
TheBEAUMONTGURU Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 very nice Dennis! cant wait to see it done at the next meeting. 1
dino246gt Posted December 25, 2023 Author Posted December 25, 2023 So I foiled the bed floor and added my bullet tail lights, and more or less, finished the interior. I can't get good interior pictures but you get an idea of what it looks like. It's Christmas day, so I'll not model today, but try for better pictures in a few days, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidaze!! 5
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Great job Dennis, the bands on the bed look like real metal and the assembly is very clean. ?
TarheelRick Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Excellent work. From what I can see that interior is pricelessly beautiful, love the red on gray.
