Got a little done on the '53 F100 tonight

Just a shot of the Lightning engine and tenth gen radiator in place.

The grille is a '56, swiped from a Revell Foose pickup.

Last week I got some second hand kits, among them was a bunch of 1:35 scale diorama stuff, including some birds. One of those birds was sprayed silver and used as a hood ornament.

You mentioned Merkur. I built a Ford V-8 powered Merkur at least 20 years ago. Because Merkur is Mercury in German, and I always associated Mercurys with customs, I decided to build a custom Merk. I combined the roof section from a stock Tamiya Sierra with the lower body from a racing Sierra to get the distinctive Merkur side windows with a more custom body. To this I added a 5.0 Ford V-8 from a 1/24 Monogram 55 Ford Pickup Street Machine kit. [Apparently, there were V-8 Sierras in South Africa].  I painted it purple because the first custom Merc I ever saw was purple. At the time of the build 3-spoke wheels were popular with the tuner crowd which I considered the customs of the day.

Coincidentally I came across this thread when I searched Miata and saw your stalled project. I am almost finished building a Ford V-8 powered Miata which I will display here when done.

I'm down with this build.  Just started this one with the Revell 1937 Ford truck body on the modified AMT USA1 Silverado Monster truck chassis.  I'm running a 302 with dual quads.  May be changing the wheels & tires to 1/32 scale.

That is pretty cool. I had never seen that particular photo before.

There were a lot of Model T variations other than common road cars.  Here is one ( of many ) with caterpillar tracks

https://fordimages.com/en-ca/products/1926-ford-model-t-with-caterpillar-tracks-and-sled-runners-neg-45926-jpg

Many interesting variations of armoured cars used in the Great War, for example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_FT-B

There are a number of 1/35 scale Model T armoured car kits too.

A quick search using Google will find many variations and pictures.

cheers, Graham

Love the Merkur and Miata, well done!

It's been a since the last update to this community build and I figured it was about time I posted something on my build.

Plans are to build a 29 Ford Model A roadster based on Revell's kit but with a flathead for power. As usual I just can't leave well enough alone and I start down many paths kitbashing. This build will, at least for the moment include some parts from the Revell 29 Ford Roadster, Revell 37 Ford pickup, and the AMT 34 Ford pickup.

image.jpeg.51c2a58b1cb94a7d4f08420c2699cd47.jpeg

I wanted my build to be something more long the lines that a backyard builder in the 60's might have built and would have been used for a  nice weather daily driver errand runner.

Flathead for power would match up nicely with quick change rear end but not having one handy and likely that backyard Bob didn't have the cash for one then  a banjo rear end would do. The banjo rear ends from the 37 pickup where OK but I settle on the banjo rear end from the 34 pickup as a better fit but it suffered from warpage and mold mis-alignment when it was made. This necessitated a bit of scratch building to sort out. The torque tube was replaced with a piece of Evergreen poly styrene tube with a piece of brass tubing and sanded to shape. The wishbone was replaced with brass tubing squished to an oval shape, filed and sanded to shape.

Once the read end was sorted I decided that I would make the front end posable and went to work making spindles from brass. I am still working on the front end. It has taken quite a bit of time fussing with small bits of brass but I have gotten close. Still, I am considering digging out another front axle from another kit and just assembling as the kit intended just so I can get on with the build. The posable front end would be set aside for another build however.

I won't describe all the wee details of how these pieces were made unless someone wants some details; it takes longer to write about those details than it does to just do it.

I do like fussing over small details and quite enjoy using brass for these small details. However, with age and arthritis rearing it's head I struggle a bit some days hence the thought of digging out another axle from another kit and just getting on with the build.

I have what looks like a really nice flathead V8 from VCG resins on the way which will find a home in this build.

cheers, Graham

I figured if 1 is good then 2 has to be better? Or maybe I just have a problem with starting more projects. Either way I started this one today. My wife got me this kit for Christmas by mistake, she was trying to get me the Challenger USPS Stamps series kit from AMT and just saw this one said US Mail. Figured I’d try to make something out of it.

Got my '29 roadster to the point that it's up on wheels, at least as a simple mock up, so that I can start to visualize and adjust whatever bits need persuading to get the stance I want keeping in mind that this is one of Backyard Bob's builds and he lives in rural Canada where the roads are not always the nicest- the aim is for a nice low channeled look but not too low so that it would be a practical daily errand runner driver. Gotta get the front end down some as well as the front end and firewall area of the body.

Question Bob, what intake did you use for this. Is it a sbf intake or did you use something else.

The reason I ask is because I plan to build a replica of my grandfather's t bucket. He was planning on putting a small block chevy in it, but my dad said no, you gotta put a ford in it. So he used a 289 from one of my dad's 66 fairlane parts car. This will be my next build but I have something that is putting all my model building to a tiny trickle, the car I'm slowly working on is the mpc 67 corvette.

Pics of my grandfather's Hamm's Beer T. He is a collector of all things Hamms Beer because of the last name.

This is all I have done so far.

My first FORD build of 2024...358ci engined IMSA racer from 1985. Build box stock with nearly 40 year old decals!!! Only added an antenna on the roof, checking reference after it was built, I noticed they had a NASCAR style window net. I'll go back in and add that later.

GREAT looking build!! I like those IMSA and T/A Fords. The decals in those kits were bad for the first run, no white under the colors.

Here is another Mustang with Indtcals decals for Willey! thx
