R. Thorne Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Building a model of my old race car. Only clues to the color are it was sprayed around 1970 and was not a metallic, I think. Sort of a lime green or olive drab ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Looks like a darkish metallic gold to me. 1
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 If it's not a factory color, it could be almost anything. Steve
NOBLNG Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) That doesn’t look green to me? Tamiya X-31 looks pretty close, but it is metallic. Edited December 25, 2023 by NOBLNG
stitchdup Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 could it be laurel green? it a chevy colour from the 50s and i think a photo of it might fade to something like your pic. I searched for the truck colour rather than the car since they seem to be the same
R. Thorne Posted December 25, 2023 Author Posted December 25, 2023 To all who suggested a possible color, my deep appreciation. Any others? More research required with those suggestions. Merry Christmas to all on this forum who have unselfishly tried to help others.

peteski Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 (edited) I don't see any green or olive drab in that paint. To me it looks like pale gold (sort of similar to the "cashmere" color popular in the '90s, but a bit more gold-ish). The Tamiya X-11 looks pretty close, but seems it seems a bit too beige. There are probably nail polish colors very close to what's needed. The transporter truck's cab seems to be painted the same color as the car. I should also add that color photos are not very good for accurate color matching. Plus since the original vehicle is likely long gone, who will question your color choice? Jon Haigwood Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 this looks close. https://mcwfinishes.com/shop/ols/products/2002-gold
R. Thorne Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 Further research has disclosed that the color was a metallic color used on Chevy trucks. My brother got the vehicles painted while I was working for Uncle Sam, so I was not involved in the color choice. Again, deepest thanks to all who responded with possible colors. I have ordered (from MCW) Laurel green and yellow green metallic colors. We shall see which one looks the best. Thanks again. You guys are the best. 1
