Still have one seat to work on then the door panels. Don't think I'll ever attempt seats like this again.  Got bumpers fitting pretty good and some small details that no one will ever notice. 20240103_025450.thumb.jpg.9416abac9638f9ecc0fcd83eb3858ece.jpg20240107_183519.thumb.jpg.f918abf1ff6af9f130598878aa82359a.jpg20240107_183534.thumb.jpg.ed89dd4c6e28366bd35f7a2884e45efe.jpg20240107_185022.thumb.jpg.40a83ff36b8f61759fbf90d49018ce5d.jpg20240107_185003.jpg.fc9be5865de3316c0f6a9f057f1526cb.jpg20240107_183438.thumb.jpg.6c96db90809db590f8b9f4b4aee73b11.jpg20240107_183455.thumb.jpg.cdc16c199145ed38b47c59ccf8f024e6.jpg20240107_184959.thumb.jpg.b01f1626d574d70a48ef98072ed3b794.jpg

Looks awesome!!  I am dreading doing door panels but know they need to be done.

Ride height and stance is set. May use different wheels and tires for it. Have to see what my mind says. Already have a color scheme for it in my head and I think it’s gonna be a good bit different than the normal.

I don't know what your engine consideration is, but FWIW the Corvette LS engine darn nearly drops right in. The only tweaking I did here was shorten the front snorkel and trim a little from the chassis at the back of the tranny. Don't remember if there was any issue with the exhaust. (Love your rims BTW).

Hello @all

I might try to finish one again and join this years Cannonball because I really love the theme.

Problem is, I am not sure if this one is OK with the "Maximum 25% started rule"

Might be pushing the restomod parameters though.

Hopefully all my resin parts will be in by Monday. I’ll post pics of my donor car and changes I’ll be making. Not the least of which is converting a z/28 to an RS/SS Camaro.

I'm still deciding if I want to drop that kind of money on the wish list I have for the Monte Carlo. I'm looking at kitted LS engines and most are 1:25th scale I'm concerned the engine bay will swallow anything smaller.... and Revell still needs to make good on the decals also.

In other news I opened my Revell 442 and the roof was smashed down so the body isn't usable for what I wanted to build, bummer. I'll have to go another way.?

I didn't think there was any way we'd build this kit the same but we're certainly on the same wavelength.

I got the car lowered a good bit and found some wheels that actually fit, there was no way to get the 20s on without more mods than fit the theme.

The pains I go through just to make something accurately stock.

The problem being:  the 66 chassis is all pre molded lumps.  The 67 chassis has the interior floor as the top of the undercarriage.

The solution: cut up the 66 interior and fit it to the 66 interior to the 67 chassis.

While you guys are chasing rabbits down holes I chose not to look down, I'm pretty much just putting lipstick on the pig. In this case, a vinyl top might look pretty. Don't know if GTX's wore 'em but Road Runners did and ignorance isn't a crime ?.

All the rabbit talk gives me an idea for another group build.   Cars named after animals.

Now that’s an idea!

I'm working on the GTX for another GB, and botched the paint job.  A couple people here and elsewhere talked me into adding a vinyl roof,  so I'll be watching closely.  It's looking great so far.

I'm pretty sure it was an option for the GTX, but I'm not sure which style.  Near as I can tell,  there may have been three options,  possibly depending on the model?

The canopy roof stops at the rear edge of the side windows  (basically 2/3 of the roof).  Not sure of the names,  but the next one covers the entire roof.  Lastly is the one that it looks like you may be working on,  with body colored edges.  I think they're called halo type.

I've been trying to figure out which was available for what model,  but so far no luck.

I'm leaning towards the full top for my GTX.

I used 1/8-inch tape to set my margins for the halo roof, but that might've been a little generous. My thinking is that our Cannonball is basically a photo contest and since I'm not the most mechanically astute I'll need all the visual impact I can get, so I'm doing the more interesting vinyl pattern.

Here's a page from the brochure, Jeremy. Says the halo and canopy were available but I bet the dealer would put a full vinyl roof on if the buyer wanted it and was willing to pay for it.

BTW, by '74, GTX was an option package on the Road Runner, not a separate trim level, you may already know that though.
